This is my new whip... used to be owned by Rob Davies, i know some of you already knew that!

I bought this with the intention of whacking my 1.6 skoda lump in and stripping the fuck out of it/caging it/ turning into a track weapon.

Well, things didn't go to plan for me (as bloody usual), after I finished uni this year I couldn't get work sorted out, I had no money, it sat on my driveway for ages not really doing much, until the last month or so when I've got a job and money rolling in. :-)

I found out there's actual very little genuine GT's left on the road, and I thought it'd be a massive shame for this one to be butchered and thrashed as it seems to have had a good life up till now!

Figured the route i'd go down with this, is sensibly stanced, mildly tuned and kept fresh.

Some of you may be surprised at this one after my last project, haha.

Anyway, took a couple of photos that I took earlier after a much needed clean:

Powdercoated silver Pirelli P-slot 14x6 wrapped in ditchfinder Nankangs

Powerflow straight through cat back system

25mm Rear spacers

Sort out niggles in the paintwork!

The tyres are 155/55/14's.... not my choice as they were on the wheels as i bought em, but they work okay! I'm not really a fan of having stretch when it's not needed, so these'll be replaced come pay day for some Toyo's!

Yeah I'd like to sort out a rotary polisher and correct some of the scratches on it, but it's come up pretty good already with some extensive work with some paint renovator haha! Bonnet needs respraying as it's stone chipped pretty badly.. that's not far down the list of things to do..

Despite the tyres being so narrow that looks fucking amazing! I would keep the stretch as it emphasises the wheels better, and p-slots are often overlooked as being nice looking wheels because people so often smother them in fat shit tyres!

That honestly needs nothing else! Just a mildy breathed on engine possibly

Next summer I'm gonna get myself a GT, and there's only a couple of colours I'd have and it'd have to be fairly original, too. If you find yourself not feeling it or fancying a change this time next year, I'll put the cash in your hand almost instantaneously.. Seriously

Perfect. Nice to see somebody actually interested in keeping it well looked after instead of ripping it apart for a G40 conversion or trying to modify it excessively.

As Phataz1 said, its the stretch/low profile that has made those P-Slots look good IMO. I'm sure your new tyres will still make them look great though.

You think? I've had a little measure up and 25mm will bring the rears up just flush with the rear arches. But I think you are right it may look a little odd, I may settle for 20's or even 15's to keep em tucked.

I'm starting to agree with you guys about the stretch on the p's too, it just seems to work! I've got a set of mk2 golf driver steels sitting in my garage that I was originally gonna put on, so I may stick some Toyo's on them an use em as 'abusing' wheels as I do like to drive it like it should be driven from time to time!

Looking for polybushes for the whole car (or at least the front end) as it's feeling pretty loose, can someone point me in the right direction for some? Thanks :-)

Look on my thread mate, a company called "strong flex" in poland (i think) produce them, for a set of TCA bushes, inner and outer is something like £40, and they great quality wise.

They're on eBay btw. Also, if you haven't driven a polo with ARB blocks then you should think about getting some, they sort the handling out a lot!

Think a subframe is going a bit far as it's just a road car! Polybushes and ARB Blocks should be fine for the moment :) Cheers for that Max! I'm on it!

Definetly get spacing the rears out dude, i'd say 25mm will be great!

Subframe is abit pointless if your not taking it onto a track at all. But the ARB blocks and polybushes give you a much better feel.
