In terms of spline?

I cant see it making any odds unless its the spline fitment. It may be for other reasons relating to the driveshafts (i.e. strength/fitment to the shafts, differing diameter of the shafts).

I have just changed my hubs on the mk1. I'll try a polo driveshaft in the mk1 hub (which I'm pretty sure will fit). Then i'll measure the hub cartridge bearing ID on the golf hub and check it against a polo one, so that if there was a difference in the splines, but the bearings were the same, you could have my hubs or fit the polo hubs, which I'm pretty certain will retro-fit the golf bearings/housings

i dont think they are mate I'm pretty sure the outer cv is the same I'm about to buy some new outer cv's this weekend and I'm buying just mk1 golf ones the outer spline wont be any different I'm sure the only thing i think may be different is the bit where the driveshaft goes into on the cv but i dont know why this would be different.

My mate has some 1.6 mk1 driveshafts and jims 1.8 scirrocco driveshafts are about, i can try them in my small block golf hubs. I wont be up my unit till the weekend, i'll have a butchers then for you!

I'd say so too, tried jims 1.8 rocco driveshafts in a pair of 1.1/1.3 hubs tonight and they fitted fine. As long as you can get the fiiting to the drivshaft to work then you should be fine as regards the outer spline.

Tried a polo shaft in the golf hub and was suprised how much smaller the splines were in diameter.

It's had a bit of a dodgy idle/ shit mpg/ down on power for a while so i thought it was the hall sender on it's way out - did a 400 mile trip in it the other day which seemed to have finished it off!

@Demolover yeah man they have a knack of breaking down so conveniently! It could've broken down in the middle of dorset two days ago, but it decided it would break down on my mates drive, i almost gave it a pat and said 'cheers' haha.

Its not hard to set up the ignition timing, get some advancement on there too!

Yeeah i know, I'm just a bit anal and would rather do it with a timing light to get it bang on!

Digifant controls the advance though, adjusting the base setting will do nowt!

think you guys forget the wanky procedure for properly setting up a digifant controlled engine! cant just do it on idle and hope for the best
