Hi guys

Ok well my front wheel bearing s may be the cause of the loud grinding noise, I'm checking them later buy want to know how to change them. Iv heard talk of needing a press, is it not possible to just tap them put with a punch, and use some form of puller to remove the outer race?

tap them out?!? No!

It's possible to hammer them out using a big hammer and a vice but its far from tapping, think taking a run up and a massive swing at it!

Much easier with a press of course. What some people do is remove the struts and just take these to a garage and get them to press the old bearings out. Putting the new ones in is much easier, as long as you keep them straight they'll go in without too much fuss using a suitable drift (or the outer race from the old bearing) and some light hammering.

you can get big bearing pullers too which do the job nicely.

I've got that , works ace and if you plan to do more bearings in the future its not a bad buy

theres no just tapping on the front bearings , unlike the rears they're really in there tight

if you get the one i linked to , you need this too to get the inner race off the drive flange

you can get them most places for around £10

its 32mm nuts on that kit , still takes a fair amount of oomph to shift them so make sure you have a breaker bar , and always turn the nut not the bolt and keep it oiled

i had to use the threaded bar off that for the final drive flange install as the kit thread is too fat to fit through it
