Just wondering what the worse outcome for my neighbour could be for his bad parking. He leaves his car about half a metre from the curb constantley. One day its gonna get hit and i'm just wondering where would he stand if somone smashed it. surley he would be at fault for parking like a tosser??

well having his front/rear corner bashed in, losing a wing mirror.

TBH hitting a parked car is still the fault of the guy moving regardless but by the way you describe it he deserves to get his car hit, only time I think someone uninsured/twocing would be useful.

You should see how they park on the site I work on, currently we have building work going on, they then get annoyed when you knock them up at 8am to shift the car so the delivery wagons can get in, there really going to be pissed when the new lodges turn up as they come in at 5/6AM so they dont cause issues on the minor roads in the area leading to the site.

I was about to say that it will always be the fault of the moving car's driver. HOWEVER, if you could prove that the parked car was left unattended rather then parked, and that say, for example, it was so far out into the road that the moving car had to cross the middle of the road slightly into on coming traffic to avoid. You might stand a chance at shifting blame to the bad parker!

I'm sure i've heard somewhere that 50cm and further is classed as obstructive parking but I may have made that up (don't think I have)

IMO, if you can't park within 2 feet of a curb, you haven't parked, you've abandoned your car or got bored of sitting in traffic and just got out.

I dunno I'd need more policies its not really a manifesto with just one policy. thought of another though, anyone caught rioting or looting will take a plastic bullet to the nads.

Leave a note under his wiper with the number of a local taxi firm, tell him to call a taxi so that he can get from his car to the kerb

I got fed up of people parking across the front of our garage doors (despite signs stating 24 access) leaving me double parked searching for the offender or ending up half a mile down the road looking for a space.

Anyway, on one occasion I was in a particularly bad mood and called the rozzers (on the non-emergency number), gave them the reg and 5 minutes later a pretty confused looking bloke turned up to move his car having had a call from the authri-tays!

happens up near my girlfriends too people just abandon their cars in the road.

Car getting written off probably... My housemate parked his car in the correct way on the side of a road, all the residents park there so it's quite busy, some daft bint came along, doing 30 (I rarely do above 20 down there, cars parked on both sides leaving only enough width for one car, it's a two way road..), car came the other way, she panicked and piled it into the back of his car, writing it off. Her rover pushed his car 2 foot down the road, she claimed she was "pulling out" after parking.. bollocks to that. You don't push a 1.6tonne car 2 foot down the road when it's in gear / handbrake on if you are just pulling out a space - the rear wheels didn't turn, you could see the scrape marks in the tarmac!

I imagine it'd boil down to the fact that the driver of the vehicle that hit his car proceeded when it was unsafe to do so or something. If he blocks access for an emergency vehicle or something then I guess that's a different story...
