A week ago i took delivery on my new 2011 polo and i'm very happy with it so far...BUT the sales man told me it would come with a AUX port for my ipod and this wasn't an added extra.....well it turns out it is!

i'm now looking to add an aux port (headphone jack) myself and need some advice on where i can buy one and will it fit my stanard radio? I've taken the radio out and can see two black square ports free which have a number of pins in them.

any advice would be welcome, the FM transmitter is a nightmare!

If its a stock radio then it should be possible to get a unit that fools the radio into thinking theres a cd changer fitted and the it gives you an AUX port. the display on the radio just says CD 1 Track 1 all the time.

Look on ebay for them as thats what I use on the passat's stock radio and not even vag-com detects theres something wrong even it thinks theres a changer there sounds pretty good too.

As fas as I know the Aux port (Headphone jack, not the real USB/iPhone connector) is a standard equipment for all models that has RCD-310 or better installed. It is located near 12V jack below the main unit. Personally I would go back to store and ask why I dont have the Aux in plugin :)

I had similar problems when I bought our Polo. It came with RCD-310 and they told me that I can easily attach my iphone on it. Turns out that I needed to have Media-In installed and then also some iPhone cable from VW to get it work. I then heard that the Media-In system is not worth it so I decided to but my moneys elsewhere. So, I installed Pioneer AVIC-F3210BT to my polo and it works perfectly. Installation is easy (no additional adapters or cables needed) and it has direct ipod/iphone support.

I also took the USB cable from main unit to my arm rest, so I can keep my iphone / USB stick inside the arm rest which suits me well, because I hate loose cables all over the car.

i had the same problem with my 9n3, turns out the headunit is CAPABLE of running aux in and vw wanted £95+ for the adapter, but after some research i found out that most vw units are blaupunkt and then found this

IPOD IN

RCA IN

3.5MM AUX IN

all of these do the same thing, so its up to you which one you pick.

its ALOT cheaper then what vw charge, and at that price you cant really go wrong.

iirc you have to enable AUX IN once its installed i cant remember how though.
