Seeing as I've just bought another car I recommended it to a friend whos just having lessons as his first car:

40mm Gmax springs

44k

Black, genesis with the black interior

Mint bodywork, no rust on arches, sills, bootlid, spare wheel well everywhere!

And hes getting it for £750, what a bastard!

wont be driving it home with the front tyre looking like it is!

It's clean for the year but 750 is a little high that's near gt monies

You reckon? It is a 4 speed, he hasnt bought it yet though so shall i say to make it £700?

For one with 44k?!

Its a 4 speed 1.3 genesis

No tax or mot either...

Mine is in that condition, maybe a tiny bit of surface rust, but the bay looks just as clean if not cleaner, mines a 5 speed, had 53k on the clock when I got it, and I got it for £580 with the MOT and service done the day before. That was only a few months ago as well, not as if prices have gone up since then. To us it's great cos it's a Polo, and we're enthusiasts, but at the end of the day, it's still just a 17/18 year old hatchback.

Does look a very nice example though, and he should definitely buy it f he's willing to pay that much for it, it's just not that cheap :)

Hmm, cheers for the responses guys i appreciate it.

I thought mint ones of these went for quite a bit more than £1000! Let alone £700...

Its hasnt got any tax or test guy, hes looking for service history aswell. So if he tried to sell it elsewhere he'd struggle without Mot & tax for £700ish?

Tell him to put 12 months tax and mot on it and you'll give him the £700, if not its a £2-300 car and its only worth that much due to he condition otherwise it would be scrap value. End of the day its only a 1 liter 4 speed, its not desirable and probably never will be unless some ones looking for a mint black mk3 for a re-shell.

You think its a 1.0l? The bloke whos selling it has been trusting my judgement, i offered him £500 initially and he said he wanted more. I'm glad I've got you guys lol!

4 speed 1.3? Really?

Not worth £750 in my eyes

I thought you said it was a 1 liter or am I getting confused? Either way its nothing special and don't get drawn in by its mediocre mileage. 44k isn't gonna do you a lot of good if you take it for an mot and get given a massive fail list in return, people put far too much faith in mileage these days.

700 is very strong money for a standard mk3 with t and t, without its fucking insane. You've still gotta add the cost of tax on to that and the mot which it might need nothing for but it could just as easily need shit loads doing to it.

I think its a 1.3, (so i was told) haven't been given the logbook or anything yet. The thing is the bloke selling it is a good mate whos into hondas and doesnt know what they are worth, and the person buying it is also a mate but who is learning to drive. Puts me in an awkward position :/

Personally i would pay £700 for it.

Id sooner have that then a tatty GT, and they go for a lot more than that.

Now thats what I thought, if it is a 1.3 it hasnt got a spot of rust on it, the bodywork is near mint. Ill see if he can mot it for us. Cheers for the advice guys!

Yeah, it definetly needs tax and test for £700 by the way.

Also, with it being a 1.3...

Fit a GT cam and bigger TB and you should see 70bhp.

Just point them both in the direction of this thread so they can both get a real idea of its value and you ain't stuck in the middle. you wouldn't want your mate getting ripped off because you didn't want to explain to your other mate that he's asking crazy money for a car would you?

Or just explain to the lad that wants to buy it how far of the price is, if he still wants it regardless then your coincidence is clear and everyone is happy.

Yeah i have pointed them towards this, then they can make up their own minds and I'm not at fault. Yesssssssss.

Legend guy

Dunno what the dreamers on here are talking about. You cant even get a decent

Car with tax and test for 700 that doesnt need work! 700 with test for a mint example would be good for the money regardless!

Its all about the tatty arse-dragging gts max

But this one doesn't have test. there are plenty of cheap mot'd cars about for less than that, my mates selling a mint rover 200 with long mot and tax that he's willing to let go for £450, needs nothing doing to it. A mk3 golf td with long mot sold on eBay yesterday for £350, ok it needed a wing as it had been used on another car but what's a used wing £25? cars seem to be selling for a lot less than before and next to nothing if they have no mot at least.

Not being funny but i paid £300 for a Mk2 Golf 16v with no t&t and i think i know which one is worth more with t&t

And my Polo GT (Shit bodywork) with 12mth MOT was £300 as well.

Wouldn't pay more then £300 for that car - But i don't wank over mileage

my 1.3 polo cost me £165 with 4months tax n 7 months mot

it needed no work on it at all when that mot ran out, had it 2 years now

you can look at a thread below for pic`s

I just sold a coupe with T and T for £300 and I consider that a good price.

£700?

Id walk away.

Yes its great condition but there are loads of low mileage Polo's out there.

Its just a case of being in the right place at the right time or pay the scene tax.

what year is it?

would have thought if its a 1.3 Genesis it will be 5 speed
