I'm looking into getting myself a mk3 polo ideally a breadvan

just wondering are there any common faults and bits to look out for when buying one?

and what are the 1.0 and 1.3 engines like?

I'm after a standard one so i can have a play and make it abit ratty as i am bored of my mk1 arosa 1.7sdi and always wanted a breadvan

thanks

1.3 is good, especially if you manage to get the rare mulitple point injection engine but the single point injection is just as good, 1.0 is good too they are nippy for the engie size/weight

about things to check, rust on arches, rust of filler neck of the fuel tank, water leaks in sunroof if has one, waterleaks into footwell, there are more and i'm sure people will add to the list

ebays a good place to find standard ones e.g. Squareback

cheers I've seen alot with rust etc

seen quite a few nice ones on here in the for sale bit but all miles away :( dont mind going like 100 miles tops or somewhere easy to get to by train but needs to be decent one

problem is i dont want to spend loads on one as i know i can get cheap standard ones all over the place

all i wanna do is drop it on some nice wheels and then keep it clean until gets rust then rat it

but it needs to be good driving as need it to go to and from uni every day in september

Check for gearbox whines aswell mate
