well its cheaper for me to insurce a 1.6 16v vts than a 1l polo for some ukown reason so wa would you go for lol plus most 6n polos are rotten

Don't get a VTR/VTS you'll hate the build quality, my mate has a 52 plate VTR and the build quality is god awful compared to my 18 year old polo, the saxo's exhaust has come off, its had to have a whole new rear axle as well as a new battery and brake hoses. Where as my little polo goes everywhere that saxo does pretty much and I've never "touch wood" had a problem as yet.

Including taking my 1 litre 4 speed on the motorway to polo show, and doing 70 - 75 all the way, it did not let me down.

I'd say yes on the golf front though! :)

Golf you say? :unibrow:

Depends what you're looking at tbh.. if we're talking 1.4/1.6 I'd go for a polo / other smaller car over a golf any day, depends what you can get away with insurance wise I suppose!

If we're talking something with a bit more power then fo sho!

6n's are shit build quality anyway. Dont even talk about how bad they are for rust.

Id have a saxo VTR/VTS over a 1L polo any day.

Good move! :)

Why :retard:? I'd take a VTR/VTS over a shitbox 1l 6n any day of the week. There are other cars out there than Polos you know

Just never been a fan of saxo's since i was following my mate in his and saw his rear beam actually come off at 60mph.... so i do have my reasons. it wasnt lowered or even modified just a standard VTR and the axle mounts left the chassis rails...

but each to there own 8-)

Edit: I had a V Reg 1.0L 6n for 2 years, not one spec of rust on it and i still see it driving round as i sold it.

Buy a scirocco. Mine is for sale :p

Buy an older Polo (or move to a better post code .)

I know of a decent vtr for sale, inbox in interested dude.

try a 106 gti if your going french there are far greater cars out there then polos (as much as it pains me to say) have you tried civics for insurance or even starlets or if you fancy another german car try either a mk2/3 polo loads more fun then 6ns and are far cheaper or try an old merc or bmw some are suprisingly cheap on insurance

People need to remove their heads from the volkswagen polo arse. theres plenty cheaper, more fun, faster, better handling, less prone to rust non vag options for sale instead of a 6n.

If your desperate to stay vag then try polo GT's. Still no faster than a saxo VTR/VTS in standard form but in my opinion more reliable and less problematic if its an original unmodified example.

if your friends rear beam fell off his saxo then its more than obvious its had a past history with somebody not fitting something correctly. theres little chance that would happen if its never been messed with in the past.

Sporty saxo or 1l 6n polo... Hmmm such a hard decision

I'm on the verge of moving away from polo's for a bit too, probably gonna sort out the little jobs I've been putting off on the mk2 and replace the smashed up wing and stick it up for sale. Been looking at e21 BMW's and the like just for some thing a bit different. as fun as the polo is and as much as I know i'll regret it I just really need a change of direction

I agree there are others better than a 6n but the 6n is not the only polo ever made, 6n2 are galvanised so don't rust unless there has been a repair with non genuine parts. the mk1 2 and 3 are great fun and cheaper than a VTR/VTS plus have the retro look and are built way better than most small cars. that is why people like polos.

Shut your Cake Hole.

as AMD man said no point in going for a 1.4 or 1.6 golf as they are mostly poverty spec and slow.

I would NEVER buy a saxo. I wouldn't even accept one if someone GAVE one to me. I wouldn't let anyone I know and love drive one of them.

And thats not just because saxo's are fucking embarrassing. Never have I experienced a car which actually feels like it will crumble away in my hands, and not just in terms of rust, but in all aspects.

They aren't fast, the brakes are shit, the handling isn't great imo, and the interior is made of ass. In fact, the whole car is made of ass.

I'd have a 1l 6n over a saxo any day. And I think 6ns are shit!

I did some welding on this recently

DSC02099.jpg

As honestly as I tried to do the job properly, there wasn't an ounce of solid metal remaining on it. I tried my best to cut and sand away all the rust back to solid metal, but I was just sanding and sanding further and further that if I'd have gone any longer I would have to build a whole fucking chassis from scratch.

Look at the jacking point for fuck sake

LOL Arun. Ok i never knew they were that prone to rotting :o holy shit!!

my brother runs a saxo vts as his daily and it so clean and my brothers is pretty qwick tbh but I'm looking at 106 gtis as they aint to bad tbh I've just had a nuff of vws its all I've had since i was 14years old

why so angry Leonh? 1L 6n's arent that great to look at? I'm making a comparison between the two cars he has and has thought about buying.

6n's are bleeding horrid to look at. but lets be honest no small hatchback is gonna give you the horn. now you know what would? a mustard yellow volvo 240 with a brown interior.

Don't get me wrong Jay, I agree with what you said about some people needing to remove their VW blinkers, but I would advise not to do it with a Saxo.

Saxos suck anyway, never mind how shit they are
