Passenger side of the floor, the big hole near the back of the chassis leg, if you look at the drivers side you'll see that the hole is where the jacking point should be

This car was sold to my mate as too good to break, once we started digging tho it showed a different story, sill was like paper, jacking point gone and all arches crumbley as fuck. This is the 3rd mk3 golf I've had some thing to do with and one was as bad as this and the other I didn't dig too deep cause I was trying to sell it but it had all the usual bubbles on show.

Vw went properly down hill with the mk3 golfs, mk4 polo's ect, the build quality or more accurately rust protection seems to be non existent, I've seen less rusty. Early 80's vauxhalls

My rocco has less rust then some 6n's I've seen and its twice the age

Me personally, I'll never get back in a saxo after being in my mates when we got t-boned at a junction, I feel quite safe in my ncap 4-star tank of a mk5

I also driven 106's, 206's, 306's, punto's, most small european stuff and I prefer my polo over the lot of them, nothing comes close tbh

Its weird that mk3 Golfs rust that bad considering they were galvanised. They must just be made from shit quality metal, despite it being proper thickness.

However it seems saxos were built with >1mm thick steel of shit quality, thats the reason they're light The pic of the saxo jacking point I showed was like that on both sides! And on the same car the inner wheel arch and chassis rail needed plating as well That wasn't nearly the end of getting rid of the rust either, only what was necessary for its MOT!

i driven a saxo vtr today it was as good as concrete shoes i didnt think saxos were that bad with all the chavs rocking them but by god i was wrong they feel so loose as stock my polo felt tighter i didnt see rust as i wasnt looking but then it is a friends car but never again

I've driven 106s in the past i thought the interior felt cheap and i had to take my shoes off to drive it properly lol but the ride was comfy enough

I've had two VTRs and they are probably the best all round car I've had. 35 mpg without trying, 50 mpg on a run, torquey, easy to drive, but they do take a bit of effort to get the best out them, normally well beyond the point where the tail comes out, you basically need to drive them sideways! Personally I don't give a shit about build quality.

My second one made 6 bhp less than a VTS and slightly more torque, which made for a very nice car to drive. It was not a huge amount slower to 70 than my Mk2 16v...

I wouldn't have a VTS/GTI because they just don't last. The 8vs last forever.
