Nice car good thread. you still got the NZ cam or did it go in another car fella?

  • Author

cheers for the nice comments guys, yeah i've got the NZ cam in the garage still, why?

i found a couple more from the elsecar mega meet:

surrounded by red golfs

with the local lowdown crew

heres a few pics i took a few weeks back:

bearing in mind this was after i raised the front of the engine 10mm....

and then one from the local lowdown meet last month:

soooooooooo.................

i had to remove the coilovers a couple of weeks back to get it re-insured as my renewal had come up and because i had a tiny bump i lost my 2 years no claims bonus and no specialist companies would give me a reasonable price, so i had to get insured with elephant at <50mm :-(

don't know exactly what I'm doing with it any more as it looks stupid with the rsl cults on and ideally needs 14's to make it look a little less worse... so i wouldn't hold out for any more pics or updates for a while...

Yay 14s! 185 50s should suit the arch gap alright dude, plus the exhaust will be a bit higher up.

  • Author

Yeah I'd like some steffan bcw's or similar with 175/50 tyres or maybe bigger

The exhaust is miles away from the floor now

Yeahman defo a nice wheel choice, borbet T's are really nice too. I wish my exhaust was miles away, ground off a fair amount of heat wrap since I've been driving around!

so yeah been over 3 months since an update, because there hasn't really been anything to update  still only 50mm lowered, not bought any 14's to reduce arch gap

only change is i bought a private plate a few weeks ago and got them shortened and fitted

and a recent pic of it

Looks sick tho daawwwgggg

Cheers, yeah i guess your engine isn't raised and you have the standard afh mani?

My downpipe was under 2" from the ground (and wearing through), gearbox was 2.5" and sump was under 3", i was all set to raise the engine another 10mm and then wind it down 10mm front and back, obviously after trimming the car so that it didn't just sit on the driveshafts and tca's... then it would have been as i liked it whilst still using it daily.

I still may end up buying a 2nd car to use daily and then put this on a classic policy and chuck the mk1 golf coilies back on as i still have them, when i've got a years no claims next year anyway...

Well it passed its MOT a couple of days ago, fitted a de-badged grill again, fitted some polished 6n top caps I got off ebay and changed my 12" mountney for an 11" mountney

been downsizing steering wheels for a while now and i like it, feels better to drive with a smaller wheel, its a bit hard to tell what speed you are doing though...

Hey, at first I thought the paint didn't suit it, but on the pictures where you've put everything back in I changed my mind,it's good to see something different as well. It's unusual and it isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. But the main thing is that you like it right? :)

  • Author

Thanks! yeah I was choosing between going grey or a dark blue but i thought grey would be different

I think most people like the colour, probably more than me now  but i guess that's because i'm used to it now and would like a change maybe...

Nice work!

Looks real sweet, good work
