That's more like it, totally transformed the car.

Don't spray them black, it'll ruin the look completely, and will hide what the wheels actually are.

If your not feeling the white, i'd go for silver?

Does it not look weird having a higher profile tyre on the front? It'll be hard to get it sitting well at the front.

max this would have happened a while ago if i had those 14" bandeds of you!

paint is fudged so will need a paint either way, not keen on silver looks boring but i actually liked them white on the test fit

and yeah i get what everyone is saying about them being black, but black bandeds just look mean 8-) can always get a few cans of plasti dip (

) and do a colour change, seriously i have no idea why this stuff isnt popular yet, its like paint but can be removed so easily, win!

the difference in profile is actually noticeable but 175/50's arent cheap and would mean i would have to buy 4 of them and i dont fancy getting 165/55 put on a 8.5j :? need a bit of help on tyre choices tbh

WHITE LOOKS MEAN!

got the tyres taken off friday so that i can get them sent off the be blasted and powdercoated this week, and while they were off i thought id wack the old tape measure out to see what exactly they are, i know I've measured them wrong slightly as you do it from the inside of the lips rather then the out but i couldnt do it with one hand

fronts were:

I don't think we know what colour you're going for... Tell us!

I reckon it's low enough.

I'm going for good old gloss black 8-) once they are refurbed and have a good surface i can use plasti-dip on them to change the colour or the dish colour etc...

it is very nearly low enough just another 10 or 20mm will do it, i think that exhaust brace is dangling on now as i can hear something clip little bumps now  new wheels will give it more arch gap too

Also hit a black bird on the way to work at 50mph, it flew off but it may have damaged the grill, i haven't looked yet

Grills fine checked at dinner break, insert joke here about that being the only bird i'll be smashing on valentines day :lol:

just found a golf which looks like the style I'm going for:

evil.

naaah not a fan of the white, well not as a permanent thing anyway, could use a can of plasti-dip if i wanted them a different colour

IMG_20120219_155824.jpg

i wasnt sure on it at first but its growing on me i think, what you reckon?

How do you fit a stubby aerial? It has baffled me for ages

you mean a roof mounted one like a g40? drill a hole, insert aerial, get under the headlining, tighten nut, run wire to front of car, attach wire to headunit = job done

Cheers, too much effort when I don't even use the radio haha

My idea and my tape= COOL

just chillin' watching a bit of tv with my steel

IMG_20120309_173900-1.jpg

they turned out well man, i do think they would look better in a lighter colour though

  • Author

cheers! But in my opinion black, the colour of 85% of my clothes, makes more of an impact then boring silver or white steels or in clothes terms i prefer my black skinnies to boring light blue loose fit jeans, i like black it contrasts well to other colours and i think it will look good on my polo :) I'm not some dreary goth by the way

Haha fair play then. Black does look nice but sometimes it's hard to tell where the rim ends and the tyre begins, Also it's hard to appreciate the dish with a black wheel. I had a set of black wellers on my golf but ended up spraying them beige because they didnt really flatter the car. Not having a dig btw, it's your choice mate

  • Author

nah i know you werent having a dig its just I've noticed a few people have mentioned it and i thought id explain why i like black things

I'm thinking about having a few things wrapped gloss black also like the roof and the door pillars but that may be in a while as I've got other plans first ;)

fronts will be sorted in the next two days ready for arch rolling saturday and then finally fitting!

Black will look sweet.

But those white wheels on that test fit look unbelievable! The white contrasts to the grey so well

  • Author

Its shame the white powdercoat was so bad i may have kept them like that, i can always spray the faces and dish white with plasti-dip though if i fancy a change, two days till fitting now :)

  • Author

well i have set of steels fitted now, but not the ones i had hoped for  I'm on my mates 5.5j lupo steels again! but got the tyres from the rear of my revo's put on the front steels ready to be fitted so the guy could roll my arches, rang the guy to get a time to meet him halfway between our two locations as plans had changed the day before and he said he was on a job and would ring me back in 30mins, he didnt so i rang him an 45 mins later and then again 45 mins later and then again 45 mins later by which time it was too late to go meet him, let down much! gonna try contact him tomorrow to see if he can do them then

anyway on the left is a 7.5j with a 165/55/13 tyre and on the right is an 8j with a 175/50/13 tyre, sidewalls look pretty even i reckon which is good :) before when it had the rubbish 165/55/13 on the front the profiles were noticeably different but now i have nankangs all round and look much better
