As for the lettering on the rear lights, you not thought of sanding them off?

i realized this once i had finished

you mean the quite big ones that literally cover all the sill? looked into that before the mk3s dont have the holes drilled out for them

not hard to drill some holes bro :)

You might find the markers for the holes are there, hidden under the underseal.

Definitely.

yeah i know where the holes should be i just didnt want to drill holes in my sills, seems a bit of a bad idea  how are the covers attached to the sill anyway? like how the banana trims are with those plastic caps that fit in the car and then the pins on the trim go in? not sure id like them if i put them on anyway, always wanted coupe s arch trims though

there held on with rivets mate!

ithink itd look great personally, but its your car afterall :)

cheers mayney!

right some of you know i had cat issues which meant my exhaust was blocked somewhere, took it down to my mates dads work today to get it over a pit to take it off an empty it, turns out there was a piece the size of tennis ball that when the car started up was pushed to the back of the cat and blocked the entire outlet! great! so we did this:

sounds better now since the only silencing part now is the backbox :D should go a little better too but i bet it isnt noticeable haha

This cars soooo nice!

righta little update I've ordered some arb blocks which my or may not arrive today to correct the fairly noticable toe its got and I've also acquired what seems to be a genuine gt decat downpipe

IMG_20120614_190752.jpg

if the blocks turn up today i will get them fitted along with the downpipe tomorrow

went to the renishaw hall classic car show monday aswell, was very busy though so didnt get anywhere near the show area but took a couple of obligatory "grass lows" pics when leaving

today i am getting the front tyres changed due to them wearing on the inside "quite a bit", and also my arb blocks came a few days ago thanks to ppp which will help correct the reason my tyres are wearing out (i wish id done it sooner) and then get it tracked too

i also got a lambda nut welded onto the genuine vw gt decat downpipe yesterday so i can fit that too, should a bit nicer to drive by next week and ready for the polo show 8-)

I THINK that silver mk2 with the tear drops is Benoaw's on here.

Car looks well, can't help but think there's too much poke though, for me anyway.

Any more plans then?

Oh yeah, do you know the lad with the blue mk1 golf then?

  • Author

i likey the poke though!

my plans include:

- a different interior most of which is in my garage

- gt gearbox and cam

- lower it another 20mm so its 90mm, i have the front springs in the garage but i dont have anything for the rear yet still

- maybe some 14's or some 7j fronts as they will scrub no doubt if i lower it more

- wrap the roof black maybe

- a good cat back system, probably a new custom one

- fit this rear screen that's lying around which has the heater rails intact and no stickers on

lots of plans

ermmm dont know him personally but i've seen his car around and about and at the local lowdownvw meets and on the forum

I really want a Mountney wheel for mine; it looks wicked! what did you have to do to get the boss to fit on?!

I really want a Mountney wheel for mine; it looks wicked! what did you have to do to get the boss to fit on?!

where did you get the wheel boss from?

the steering wheel boss is from merlin motorsport BUT this is for the 6x100mm traditional mountney wheels, and it also involved removing the large spline adapter so that the car was small spline as you cant get traditional large spline bosses, as i found out, pm me if you want more help :-)

from page 3, again pm me if you want more help

painted my manifold and backbox, including the polished tip, with high temp matt black so it looks a bit tidier now :-D

any blowing has now been sorted now too and i've removed the pesky exhaust brace thingy that scraped on things , also fitted the propper decat downpipe too so more silly echo sounds from there

last weekend i finally got some arb blocks fitted and got it tracked too, alot less toe out now so i got a new pair of nankang supercheaps fitted at the same time too

gonna book friday off and give it a massive clean up for the polo show eeeeek
