also I'm trying to get my dad to help me fit the 90mm front springs sometime soon too but he says it low enough already, no it isnt!

in other words i put the cam back in, cambelt on, rocker cover on, manifold, dizzy, throttle body, spark plugs, oil filter, battery tray and battery, rad and hoses and mounted it back up and rick did all the rest, wiring etc :p

yeah seen him around in his golf for years, saw it at the hope car show last month, it was literally like a shotgun going off when he went past! such a cool mk1

so yeah I'm fitting bits from french cars now

I've fitted a pair of renault 5 wing mirrors as they look just like the early mk2 polo mirrors, that are pretty rare, off ebay thanks to a heads up from supercheal! they were cheaper than the single mk2 mirror that i was also watching at the time too they fit pretty well really

so yeah before:

I've seen them fitted 3 or 4 times on here, namely rolos old white gt! i found his thread from waaaay back in 2006 when i was searching

all fitting credits go to my mate elliot for fitting them while i sat observing his skills

theres a thread in the bodywork section, but to sum it up:

1. trim the long tube off the mirror, the non-flat edges off the sides and the two nobbly bits so that the mirror base is flat - my mate used a dremel and a stanly knife

2. drill a hole big enough in the outside of the door for the plastic threaded part to fit through in the right place of course - they fit pretty damn well but not oem

3. drill a hole big enough for the bolt to go through on the inside and use a washer to help clamp it

4. use some sort of sealant like silicon gasket or whatever on the metal you've cut so it doesnt rust and i also used some on the mirror base when attaching it so water doesnt get it

5. hold the mirror on and tighten the bolt

5. snap the bottom pin off the interior mirror cover as the bolt hole lines up with it

ummmm nooooo.... :p haha the first person that i know of that fitted them was rolo in 2006

also i forgot to say i have fitted a full length rain tray cover thanks to dknight! makes the bay look a little better but its still bad

went to the high peaks low dubs show today, was pretty decent but got colder and rainyer as the day went on

heres a few pics, so yeah major update:

as you can tell from the pics i like them they are 13x7 and 13x8 RSL Cults 175/50/13 dunlops and 195/45/13 contisports, black with polished dish, not sure if i should keep the porsche centre caps really but they are staying for now at least! picked them up from a guy in Leicester for a decent price i think

looked silly low max! i do like undersized wheels on big cars though

wanting to the throw the 90mm springs on this weekend and get it tracked, partly to shut everyone up about my land rover style 40mm of arch gap and partly to make it look a smidge better
