Looks good man, Love it!

lovely car mate :)

Quick question and you might have forgotten by now but here goes.... Do you remember where you got the bonnet struts from?

Kind regards

Kieran

P.s how easy are they to fit?

  • Author

Did a couple of things in the engine bay for a change today!

Firstly from this

to this

IMG_20130106_154734.jpg

i also changed the rotor arm and distributor cap as it was doing its old spluttery thing again and they did look like they needed changing, so hopefully that should be sorted :)

i have decided i will be using 185/50/13 tyres on my rear cults and 175/50/13 on the front and i have purhcased my friends stainless 4-2-1 that he never fitted before he sold his gt, so at some point in this month or the next i will get that fitted and a full stainless system fitted also so it should sound a bit better, go a bit better and hopefully sit a couple of inches higher up for when i lower it ;)

talking of lowering it, i have found some suspension for it 8-) cant wait to get it fitted in a couple of weeks once i receive it

needs new exhaust!

scrap scrap scrape scrape

also ..... carbed AFH what? ;)

just deciding wether to use these brand new rear coilies or keep my existing ones, i will be selling which ever i dont use though

So jealous! I need mk1 coileys, keep your rears sell the new ones if yours aren't shagged you'll get more money and less hassle

  • Author

they are working fine so it would save the hassle, but it would be nice to have new ones on, but then again i could sell the new ones for more...

heres a pic of it from yesterday

12" mountney wheel and polished horn push, great to drive with! prefer it to the 13" one

i also booked getting the 4-2-1 mani fitted and a stainless 1 box system to match it aswell :) not sure what tail pipe to have though, single upswest, double upswept, double shotgun style or downturned hidden :? should have made my mind up by now really...

Single upswept. Definitely.... :)

i heard the down turned letter box is a local favourite in the north derbyshire area ;)

now its ready for lowering when the front coilovers go on ;)

Looking savage man, I had my exhaust fitted into the bumper, So it had a little 'chavy' poke out the end.

update time!

pretty much the only thing i did in february was fit a black interior carpet, its all been happening in the last couple of weeks!

removing the old struts:

IMG_20130329_134157_zps4c420b68.jpg

a comparison shot:

IMG_20130329_143036_zps308d0e30.jpg

so got it all fitted and it was riding on the bumpstops and i realised i would be better off removing the helper springs so a few hours after fitting....

IMG_20130329_221523_zpsdc6e751e.jpg

thats right midnight coilover "customising" under tesco

so i promptly fitted my refurbed rsl cults cults the night before and went to the show the next morning

parked up with the local lowdown guys on the clubstand (top left):

elsecar20131_zpsb600144f.jpg

and one someone off here took, was the only one i could find haha:

elsecar20134_zpse2b4fb84.jpg

looking alot better than the three days previous with a smashed front end, less lowerage and a set of steels on!

took a couple of pics a couple of days ago myself to show its current state:

IMG_20130404_200224_zps09357d21.jpg

just need to unseize the rear coilies now and wind them down a bit :)

then last night after scraping my downpipe getting off my drive i thought id fit my engine spacers that stinkypete made for me, therefore this:

IMG_20130405_205224_zpse4f32886.jpg

and this:

IMG_20130405_205201_zpsc52cbed2.jpg

finally resulted in this:

IMG_20130405_205309_zps32072524.jpg

the downpipe is finally no longer resting on my arb! you can see where it was resting

so that brings it up to date finally :D still got plans for it, its not done yet ;)

oh and heres a pic of my current driveshaft clearance...

IMG_20130405_213809_zps8b04c844.jpg

seen this thread though so it just looks like my car needs a little triming in that area

what are the hubs off on the lowvers you got? your driveshaft fit straight in??? car looks rad man!

MK1 golf hub conversion dude with mk1 outer cvs and mk1 coils with a steering arm welded on

are most of the cv joints interchangable? i got a mk2 saloon, so would a a mk1 golf cv joint go on that? my bros got a caddy an mk1 golf, loads of spares so il just thinkin i could work on a budget. thanks man
