1984 Mk2 Golf Small Bumper 1.6 Carb On coilovers

Featured Replies

Hello! Due to getting a new job very far away from where I live, and having to drive back from it at about 11 o'clock every night, I need a newer car and sadly one that isn't as low.

So its a 1984 1.6 8v with a webber carb and manual choke. clocks say around 130,000 miles but its less than that as I had to replace the instruments, more likely around 100,000, not bad for this year.

Good points:

Good engine, pretty quick and reliable, starts first time every time and has never let me down

Bodywork is solid, only a small patch of rust on the passenger rear door sill.

Fantastic blue interior with blue leather seats, 80's special.

Ipod head unit with Sony xplod 6x9's, alpine amp and 10' sub in the boot

Custom (home made) parcel shelf covered in blue vynal to house the 6x9's

Webber carb, much preferable over any other from that period.

Lowered on coilovers, ebay jobs and only done about 1,000 miles so not seized. Barely even dirty. Mighty comfortable too.

Tax till December

MOT Till January

Can come with poorly painted matte black Alleycats with 4 good tyres for the right price.

Bad points:

Shockingly bad filler and paintwork on the driver side door and rear arch. Not structural, just doesn't look great, see pictures

Home made parcel shelf. Does the job though

Boot and rear passenger door don't open from the outside, just need new boot lock and new handle. Total about £15 quid from ebay and a 5 min job I just don't have the time!

Exhaust is blowing slightly and needs a new rubber on the end

No power steering, no central locking. Not a bad thing I think just less to go wrong.

That's everything I can think of now, looking for swaps ideally, something with an engine no bigger than a 1.6 please WHY?

If not £600 cash.

Car is in Caterham, Surrey
