I'm a lover of proper food tbh, the sort of shit featured on man vs food rather than master chief. I've got a mate that can knock up a curry out of pretty much any thing left in the kitchen and no matter what he chucks in it's always proper nice. He even knocked up spicy fish chips and pea's recently that was on another level, the lads got some proper skills yet all he wants to do with his life is sit around snorting m-cat

Man v Food is amazing, the sort of food on there makes me wanna go to america, even though i'm not a fan of americans and do a tour of all these places he goes to. Some of the steaks and burgers on there are off the hook.

I follow the school of 'throw bare shit in a pan till it taste nice' school of cooking.

Absolutely pmsl!!!!!

Why is there a picture of some cat sick and mouldy bread? that does not look appetizing at all.

If your not interested then don't comment. Do you even know what Risotto is? do you even cook or are you just a microwave magicition?

I'm not interested in hearing peoples dismissive comments.

I never said I wasn't interested, know what a Risotto is or can't cook. I simply said that the picture looks like cat sick and mouldy bread and that it didn't look like a meal I would want to eat. That picture of Risotto looks over cooked (more like rice pudding than Risotto) and the bread looks sweaty; therefore not appetizing.

You posted a thread on a public forum asking if people are into cooking and included a link to a recipe which has a picture of a poorly cooked version.. So suck my wang.

Just because the picture is not cooked how you like it????

As was said through the thread risotto is cooked differently according to how the chef believes it should be cooked. It is known that different regions of Italy have different adaptations of how risotto should be plated. Some like it firm and some like it soupy but neither should be overcooked. The rice should still have bite (al dente), and it would be pretty hard to tell if the rice was over cooked or not without tasting it. :p

At the end of the day the picture should not matter, many cooking books don't have pictures of every dish in them. But I guess that would be for the more intelligent reader.

Some people need the pretty little pictures to help them make their mind up, not me!!!

Wow, what a conceited retort. Someone needs to come down to earth and actually read what I have wrote. Here is an idea sport, maybe engage your brain before you reply next time?

I will repeat myself; my main comment was that the picture looks horrific, the Risotto does not look nice what so ever and neither does the bread, regardless how you think it should be cooked that picture shows a poor Risotto and does not sell the recipe it is promoting. As you're probably aware a food's taste is not the only reason food is liked, or disliked. Texture, smell and visuals also play a part. You know the other senses the human body has which help people make their mind up.

Anyway, I think you actually mistook my obviously joke-like sarcastic comment for something else, maybe I'll be a little more clear next time for the less intelligent reader. ;)

I have an odd view of food, i find it a ballache to make anything. You need food to live but i want to use up the least amount of time/effort getting it. Many times i just wont eat as i cant be bothered to cook or i resort to driving to a drive thru.

Exactly the same as me, some days i make the effort (as I'm quite small) to put some weight on but most days i just have a fag so i dont feel hungry as i just cba to make anything!

The problem with your picture is not the food but the colors and picture angle. Just check out those other pictures. I am interested of cooking and also little bit of food photographing. I now. It sounds even more gay than my Yellow 6N, but hey - I am not good with any of those. :D What comes to the rice and wether it is under or over cooked, you cannot tell it from the picture. Maybe he will learn why when he the cooking class begins at the school. ;D

Risotto can be very colorful and it mostly looks that it has been eaten once already. That is easily fixed. Add some fresh greens that goes with other ingredients on top of the risotto. Because those are fresh, they will remove the once-eaten-effect. Choose the plate color so it brings up the colors of your risotto. Like if you're doing very plain colored risotto, dont choose white plate or it looks like a porridge. Bread could be little bit smaller (= more elegant... Yes. More gay'ish if you wish... :D ). Also but place mat under the plate (dark green or something is always a good choice) so you can pop-up your plate and the the other incredients on the table. ... and yes... your picture focus is on the glass and the food is blurry. Making it more like puke.

Anyway about the food.

Making a good and tasty risotto was a challenge at first. I tried so many different flavours that I got sick of Risotto and never wanted to see it anymore. :D That was two years ago. Now I found Lemon Curdy which goes perfectly with risotto and some other incredients that I have tried like crab. Also I changed the rise to more bigger one so it gives little bit more touch and feel and also it seems to suck more taste from the stock.

Todays theme is finnish food. More fish and quarry.

i get good food magazine, although quite a lot of it is really simple there are some good articles and i usually end up reading the recipe and changing it anyway  I worked in the hotel and catering industry for quite a long time and have catering qualifications but i don't do anything like that at all now.

I like cooking and find it has a pretty similar effect as working on the cars where it just calms me down and i get messy , I love creating something with a glass of wine in hand but when its every day or making something for someone else when I'm not even hungry it gets a bit of a chore. Plus there always seems to be a million other things to do!
