I'm in the process of changing the brake drums and shoes and bearings on my mk2 and It's doing my head in!

So I've got a cob on with it and come for a smoke instead.

Anybody else in the same boat? Doing a job that's just cooking your noodle?

Yep, decided to rebuild an 8p gearbox that's got bad synchro's, this means shafts out and a full stripdown. Everything needs at least a ton of pressure to remove, total arse of a job without a 10 ton press.

Stormed in the house twice now, with cut hands and stinking of gear oil. Hateful job.

Trying to diagnose why my rear offside caliper is binding, hoping it's the handbreak mech but worried it's the sliders. Oh yeah, doing this armed with nothing but hopes and dreams, and whatever tools are in the spare wheel..

Can not wait till I'm back home with access to proper tools!

Did that this afternoon, took an hour but managed to ruin a brake cylinder while I was doing it and now I got no brakes at all :(

For the rear brake thing, type 'brake spring hook' into ebay. Possibly one of the best three quids i've ever spent.

Just replaced a starter motor on my VR6, and a small washer acting up turned a ten minute job into an hour job

The washer was stuck on the thread of the bolt after removing the nut off it, and the washer was that wedged on that I couldn't withdraw the bolt

Within 5cm of room I had to hold the washer and wind the bolt out of it Felt like torturing that little washer after its tormenting of me

lol, always the simplest of jobs that turn into fucking tasks haha.

I normally get through dificult jobs without problems. Comes to a simple 5 min job often turns into a tragic mess.

But yeah, i often get fucked off with the cars. Have to walk away and have a cuppa or something or ill end up doing more bad than good.

Should have seen the grief i got from my car when i fitted a cat back on to it...OMFG did that take the piss, Getting the zorst over the rear axle was a biiiiiitttttch i ended up pushing it on with my foot on the tip lmao

Failing the MOT and having to remove the tank to weld a little hole behind the filler neck

Need to get 2 new rear brake drums, brake shoe kit, 2 new bearings, tin of grease, disc brakes and pads, brake fluid and 2 rear brake cylinders >.<

Then need to fit them all! fun times - not done it before so gonna be fun by the sounds of it!

It was well over 5 years ago since I've last dont brake drum's/shoe's, Its just very fiddley with all the springs. I took a photo of how they was before to help with the reassembley lol

many many times I've done this.

did my coolant temp sensor on the 3.2 this morning...for those of you who can imagine the engine bay that a 3.2 is sat in, there isnt a great deal of room remaining for hand space. So choice words of the english language were used and it was noted as a character building experience.

Worst job I've ever done on the V6 so far... swap out the 2.2l washer bottle for a 5.5l

It is so tight in there I had to take the entire front end off - lights, bumper, one end of the slam panel and move the p/s reservoir.

Took over 2 hours just to swap a sodding bottle over
