Parking ticket question

Featured Replies

I'm asking this on behalf of my dad, he just had a letter through the post saying that he was given a parking ticket 28 days ago and he's now liable for double the fine. Thing is, he never got the parking ticket in the first place, all he knows is that he noticed something blow off the windscreen somewhere up the M11. Any kind of comeback on this? I think he would have been perfectly willing to pay the original, but the extra fine takes it to £100 which is kinda ridiculous really.. The ticket was for parking in a residents area without a permit, if it makes a difference.

Once they've issued it, I guess that its your responsibility to pay, but in winter I was issued a parking ticket ( which I got off), but someone stole it off my windscreen, as they knew it would be double the fine if it went over the 28 payment period. I only knew because there was a square patch without ice on my windscreen.

the same sorta thing happened to me a couple of years back. I parked on a double yellow. went shoppin came bak and drove home. Bout 2 months later i got a letter to say i owed £120 pounds for an unpaid ticket. I called up the local parking office and they sent me a fine appeal form. Which i filled out and stated the ticket was never on my windscreen. They sent one back saying that basically they didnt believe me but they would drop the fine back down to £40 if I paid it in the next 7 days.

So I say tell your Dad to give this a try.

Hope this helps!

Cheers guys ;) I'll get him to appeal it then, if there's a chance that they'll drop it down to the original fine.

A guy at work recently returned to his car and noticed a parking ticket stuck on the screen. On closer inspection it was from another car that had been parked illegally. That owner peeled it off and stuck it on his car.

U thinking I'm joking......

Not at all. Just found it funny that he let you off :-D

why do they always wear coats even when its like 40 degrees?

Because they have no soul !

Round our way, the wardens have been taken over by the council instead of the Police, and I'm sure we have 4x as many as before, just what we all needed!

I had quite a few of these in the past. Had one once down in Southampton and I only found out when I got a £60 fine through the post as some c**t chav took is off my screen so I never knew I got one.

Ask for proof the car was parked illegally. Normally scum...I mean traffic wardens take photographs of the car in question. The photographs should show the car parked illegally and with the ticket on the windscreen. If ot doesn't you stand a chance at getting out of the fine otr paying the reduced one
