More Sub Updates

We put the sub into the box and we found a problem....

IMG_1081.jpg

Because its so fucking big it crashed out on the back of the box, so we had to mate three speaker rings to step it out a total of 44mm!

IMG_1092.jpg

We then started to make the port for the box, it had to be 7'' tall by 2'' wide by 22'' long, so we made an L shape to still keep it 22'' long but it was actually 18'' by 4''

More updates to come soon.........

Yeee boy ! Get it down somewear for 4 wheel alignment mate then it should be reet :)

Aww gutted for you mate

You ok though? A head on can't be pleasant

The problem you have on the front, is where you would have bolted the bottom of the suspension leg because the holes are wider than the bolts, there is some play so to make it a lot better just un-tighten the two bolts, and get someone to pull on the top of the disc while you tighten them back up :)

Sub is in!!!!

Added a bit onto the corner to fill up a gap

IMG_1254.jpg

Cut back the mounting rings so they didn't block the port

IMG_1256.jpg

IMG_1257.jpg

Cut back the excess fiberglass from the edge of the box but left a bit so when I fiberglass fill it it will have something to hold on to

IMG_1255.jpg

Sanded everything down to make sure that everything that needed to be smooth was smoothed

IMG_1258.jpg

IMG_1262.jpg

IMG_1260.jpg

IMG_1259.jpg

Started to apply fiberglass filler to smooth in my mounting rings

IMG_1290.jpg

My friend Max Frith decided to help me out and 'borrow' some mastic sealant, hardener and wood filler from his work

IMG_1301.jpg

So I sealed the box with all of the sealant

IMG_1302.jpg

Put the front on and put about 10 more screws into it to make sure it will hold the sub tight then added another layer of glass filler to the mounting rings and to the edges of the box to seal it

IMG_1303.jpg

Stripped the back end to get all the wiring in for the amp, its only temporary as we are going to make a proper amp rack to hold it so its flush the right hand side of the boot

IMG_1240-1.jpg

Got the power and earth cables all tightly mounted in

IMG_1305.jpg

IMG_1304.jpg

All sealed with glass filler just needing to be sanded and carpeted!

IMG_1308.jpg

Sanded down but not carpeted yet, but its in!

IMG_1333.jpg

IMG_1330.jpg

IMG_1331.jpg

Amp is just screwed to the shelf for now, but now the sub is finished we can start to make the rack that will hold the amp! Ill get a video of it and post it up so you can see what all the hard work was for! haha

IMG_1332.jpg

Comments and feedback are more than welcome!!

Looks rad man !

Really liked that sub build. It's what I had originally, then just went for a false floor! I liked having the extra space though; it was a good choice! How are you holding the box in though? :)

Looking good though bud!

I'm not holding the box in at all, because of how we built it, its so dam heavy with the wood and sub and all the fiber glass that its a bitch to put in because its suck a tight fit, so it slits right into place and doesn't move at all! haha still need to tidy up the amp and make a housing for that because all the wires are driving me mad! hate messy installs! and need to carpet it too! :)

thanks for the feed back though man :D
