Update 23/3/12

Sorry for the lack of updates! I have had to replace my drivers side indicator because it smashed some how :(

IMG_1419.jpg

IMG_1420.jpg

IMG_1421.jpg

Can only just get on my drive! but its going 10mm lower at the weekend then I'm going to have my 4 wheel alignment done to get rid of the camber at the front

IMG_1444.jpg

Then my clutch started to play up, so took it in to the garage that I'm pretty friendly with, and they took her apart and found out that I had no clutch left as it had completely burnt out :( So I had to be carless most of last week while I had a new clutch fitted, but got it back yesterday so gave it a nice wash, this is what it looks like at the minute, sorry for the lack of photos too!

IMG_1418.jpg

Comments are welcome

looking good man :D /. i did my clutch not so long back but used a black diamond stg1 clutch instead of a standard one ,

Oh sweet, yeh well it's only a 1.0 so there isn't much point in doing anything to te engine, I recon I'm going to everything I want to it, then drop a 1.6 16v gti in there, then do it haaha

Started to put some deadening into the doors last weekend, the stuff I bought was 4mm thick! loads better than dynamat IMO

Got 8 sheets of this stuff!!

IMG_1569.jpg

IMG_1570.jpg

Stripped the doors and gave them a clean with some white spirit so that there is no dirt!

IMG_1568.jpg

Then went nuts basically

IMG_1572.jpg

IMG_1573.jpg

Doing the rear 1/4s this weekend and giving it a clean as she's pretty dirty at the minute!

Here is how the slowlow's sitting

Update 24th April

Remember this

IMG_1209.jpg

Well it had to get smashed out the way because i couldn't get over it anymore so me and dad took to it with a hammer and chisel

IMG_1601.jpg

Gave it a clean the other weekend and a polish the other weekend inside and out

IMG_1602.jpg

Saw this at work and it made me laugh, I work with a powder coater sometimes that had a 52 bug

IMG_1606.jpg

THEN A BOO BOO HAPPENED, I had a sqeaky clutch pedal for a few days then on thursday it snapped!!!! so had to get the RAC out to take me home :(

IMG_1653.jpg

IMG_1654.jpg

The car is still in the garage at the minute having a new pedal box fitted but I should have it back soon, hopefully more mods to come!

i have been slowly dynamatting my car . gonna really go to town on it and pack it in tight all over ,. just need to order a couple of boxes :) . looks good though , shame about it being garaged :(

yeh man, this stuff was off the talk audio forum, i have a friend who is pretty well known on there so he sorted me out, i have loads, need to do loads more too as i have only done the doors! yeh it sucked having it in the garage but got it back last thursday and just had my alignment and camber sorted so she should run pretty tight from now on!!

This is looking really tight man, especially liking the audio plans! might I suggest though that you get an alarm! my car got broken into the other day and they took all my audio equipment! wouldnt wish it on anyone!

  • Author

thanks dude! yeh the audio isn't finished yet! i hate messy installs, just haven't got round to making an amp rack or sanding the rest of the sub to cover it yet! yeh I'm looking at getting an alarm when i get central locking, anything you would recommend??

Wicked progress so far, love the subtle look of the car

And major credits for the boot build, craftmenship at its finest :)

What are the major gains from dynamat??

Hah cheers man! Means alot! Yeh the fiberglass box was a pain in the ass but it payed off!

Basically if you use sound deadening its heated up then applied, when it cools down it contracts witch pulls the metal panels tight so there is no vibrations what so ever(depending how much you put on) do it keeps the road noise down and helps keep the music in, plus if you have a sub like mine it doesn't rattle your at apart hahaha

As for dynamat, if your thinking about sound deadening your car, don't buy dynamat!!! It's a brand name! Youll pay loads for a few rolls that are only about 2mm thick, I bought mine off the talk audio forum and it's 4mm!!! Was £20 per meter squared so well worth it!

But yeh the boots not finished yet and there are lots of mods in the works haha :D

Dynamat isn't just a name and thickness means nothing what so ever , dynamat do a light sheet and a heavy sheet , if you can afford it dynamat shots all over cheap crap, that's why it's cheap , dynamat is a professional choice when the person can afford it they will always choose that over crap, also it comes in sheets hehe :D not rolls :p but this is my opinion, but just ask any professional audio installer an I bet they will say dynamat is the dOgs bollocks

I didn't know dynamat did a thick sheet, i have just always seen the thin ones, and mine came in sheets too not a roll, it does the job so far and has saved me a lot of money haha

they do a light one dynamat original and they do dynamat extreme , thickness doesnt dictate how well the product works , its the material its made from , you could have 1 sheet of 1/2 inch thick bullet proof glass and ten sheets or normal glass at an inch thickness in total and i know which piece i would stand behind, its expensive for a reason, like most things in life , you get what you pay for

Update 21st May

So I have a few updates to put up, I have been tinkering with the car for a few days here and there and its slowly getting some progress

When I was at Early Edition i got myself a new tax disc holder only £2!!!

IMG_1746.jpg

My old one was pretty shitty tbh

IMG_1777.jpg

Put my new one in, looks loads better I think

IMG_1803.jpg

IMG_1778.jpg

Finally got my tracking and camber sorted out, they didn't really like the fact that it scraped getting onto the machine though.....

IMG_1701.jpg

Some news from my front bumper, I have been playing with ideas but some of them have fallen through because they were far to hard to do or for other reasons, anyway the strips gone and its going to paint soon!

IMG_1738-1.jpg

IMG_1739-1.jpg

Went to get some petrol the other day and the car decided that it didn't really like the fact there was a slight raise in the floor

IMG_1769.jpg

I forgot to put this up but here is a photo from the Dirty Stancing meet the other month over in Coventry, ended up on the fast car website...

Thats about it for now, I have my eye on some new wheels for summer and I have some sound deadening updates to come when I get photos

Comments welcome!

1 fog and no gti splitter?

  • Author

I have a gti splitter, its with my new bumper being sprayed, and i also have the other fog, it also was with my other bumper as i had an idea to smooth them in so there was no surround and it was just the fog but it was too hard to make it work so its just been at the body shop ever since haha

no updates as yet mate just been sound deadening everything really, hopefully going to be cutting some wood soon to get the amp looking sleek and all the wires covered up so see how that goes but its been slow at the minute as i have been real busy with work! but want to press on with it asap really!, thanks for showing your interest though!!!

alignment was about 60ish but its worth it if your thinking about getting it done because they are the only place that do it for lowered cars, really good job too!
