Ok so here is an update from me....

Got the tyres taken off the borbets..

IMG_2785.jpg

Followed my sweet map to go get them blasted on the monday

IMG_2787.jpg

Then I washed the car because I haven't had a chance to clean it in ages

IMG_2796.jpg

I got the wheels back on the friday and they looked like this. Really good job

IMG_2794.jpg

Timmy at True Paintworks rang me and said that my rear bumper is ready so I went to pick that up. He did a really good job on that and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for bodywork or paint!

So my front room now looks like this

IMG_2801.jpg

IMG_2802.jpg

I dropped the borbets off at work to be painted so hopefully I will have them back by friday!

Got the car in the air ready to put the new front bumper on..

IMG_2808.jpg

NATURAL NOTCHES FOR THE WIN

IMG_2807.jpg

Then I found out that my slam panel.... if thats what its called is completely fucked from a previous crash!

IMG_2809.jpg

IMG_2810.jpg

Tried to get the new bumper on, one side sat fine and the other just didn't want to line up, so i didn't want to force it but I gave it a tiny bit of encouragement and this happened.....

IMG_2811.jpg

REALLY PISSED OFF!

Basically the end of the slam panel was bent out so that it was pressing into the bumper and caused this to happen. I spoke to Paul (the guy who smoothed/sprayed it for me and he said that he can sort it out no problem at all so that was helpful. Still sucks though!!!

Also ordered two new headlights to make the front look that bit more special when the bumper goes on :)

How is it coming along?

It is, I have been fairly busy with the car tbh, Borbets have been refurbished and sprayed up, bought two new rear tyres 165-55 ;) wind deflectors, almost finished boot build with new amps and covered. Rear bumpers done, boot lid needs some more mods. Taking it into the body shop in march to have some nice work done to it then she will roll out looking like a new car :)

Ill update when I can be bothered to.

No one really seems interested in my thread haha :(

Just read through your whole thread. Looking good and looking forward to seeing some updates

OK SO ITS TIME FOR A MASSIVE UPDATE

OK SO...

Where I left off was I tried to fit my front bumper and it had cracked because of my bent crash bar or what ever its called at the front pushed into it. I got that sorted out and its now in my dads garage with all my other stuff waiting...

I got the Borbets refurbed at work by sharpie (the powdercoater) who also had a 73 beetle.

So this is what they look like now...

IMG_3140.jpg

IMG_3141.jpg

Wrapped them up after letting them bake and then being left for 2 weeks to fully set..

IMG_3142.jpg

IMG_3143.jpg

Bought myself some duel cup holders..

IMG_3332.jpg

I have been doing some more work on the boot build too with the help from my friend Jake.

IMG_3448.jpg

IMG_3167.jpg

IMG_3449.jpg

IMG_3450.jpg

IMG_3495.jpg

Needs some final touches then it should be ready to be covered and installed properly

Had to cut out some stuff from the back of my dash to fit the new Space control unit

IMG_3455.jpg

Also had to but some Y RCA cables as it only had 2 pre outs yet i needed 3 still so these went in...

IMG_3488.jpg

So thats all in now and looking fresh...

IMG_3458.jpg

Jake again... getting all comfy helping me run new wires..

IMG_3456.jpg

Had to jump start her when the snow hit...

IMG_3467.jpg

Fork lift truck turned snow plough at work..

IMG_3470.jpg

Christmas came and went as did new year, so not much happened in the week of these events apart from drinking and eating..

Material to cover the boot build is this....... GENUINE COW SKIN, got it from work as it was off cuts from a job, yet there was loads left over.. Even has a brand on it!

IMG_3493.jpg

Gave her a nice wash

IMG_3563.jpg

IMG_3565.jpg

Finally got myself some Heko wind deflectors

IMG_3566.jpg

Took the Borbets to get all wrapped up

IMG_3582.jpg

IMG_3583.jpg

Fronts are the same as before... 155-55-14 on a 7J

IMG_3587.jpg

Rears are now 165-55-14 on an 8J

IMG_3585.jpg

IMG_3588.jpg

GOT STRETCH?!

IMG_3684.jpg

IMG_3685.jpg

So now I'm up to about FEB 9th or so.... and I just could NOT ride in winter mode any longer!!!!!

So this happened..

No helpers, no bump stops, all the way down at 150mm!!!

IMG_3691.jpg

IMG_3692.jpg

So she went from this (winter mode)..

IMG_3690.jpg

To this!!!...

IMG_3699.jpg

IMG_3700.jpg

and now roads are the death of me and every time I change lanes I hit all the cat eyes..

IMG_3696.jpg

I need a chassis notch BIG TIME! and I also need to take off my ARB and remove my arch linings, as well as cut my front bumper mounts off and make custom ones as it subs on full lock.

Comments and feed back is welcome! LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK :D

haha I hope by bad things you mean your loving it?!

When I went to my place only one guy would try to do it. Got the fronts on easy. The rears took forever. In the end he got them on.

Next time I'm going to use the bike tube idea. Not a fan of Cheaters.

Edit. Drain covers are worse than cats eyes and road camber!!. Trust me!
