Sicx's Black 5 Door

Featured Replies

Had the 9N about 4 months now, stayed standard for quite a while really while I was sorting out money issues (lack of) and insurance.

Had two 6N2s before this but liking the 9N alot.

Anyhow this was how it stood when I first got it:

35cmtqv.jpg

Whacked on a stubby ariel, and debadged the rear.

Bought some new shoes off ebay, basically mint pepperpots with tyres.

1zvbaep.jpg

Waited for the coilovers before I fitted both (cause we all know what pepperpots look like without coileys...)

And now we have this:

16ly4hc.jpg

Some hefty arch gap if I'm honest, but was expecting it when I went for pepperpots. Would go lower but it already scrapes on the speedbumps round here.

Other than that I'm quite happy with it, bearing in mind I'm going for quite an OEM look.

Thoughts & feelings welcome, cheers

Modification List

-Budget coilovers

-Audi Pepperpots (Now sold)

-Porsche 933 Carrera Cups (Staggered fitment)

-30mm Adpaters front, 35mm rear

-De-badged rear

-Smooth(ish) front bumper

-20mm spacers all round

-Stubby ariel

-Sony headunit with ipod adapter

-Cupra Splitter

Still waiting on the spacers but should be here tomorrow.

Had a little clean today and took a pic. Heres the amount of lows needed for running 15's...

Sooo these came the other day and I stuck em on:

The wind also blew the shitty plastic protection off from underneath, so bit of bodge job cable tying that back on seen as the bolts are totally rusted.

And heres how it sits as of today:

10 or 15mm spacers for the front next me thinks.

Also, the arch gap is pretty horrifc right now, would go lower but start uni soon and gotta drive down mean country roads daily.

Thank man. Yeah its stanced alrite actually, these pics dont do it any justice if I'm honest, looks like a massive body on tiny wheels. Looks alot better IRL.

Had some problems today with the speedbumps at uni, some painful scrapage...

Also the plastic protection came/snapped off the other day thanks to speedbumps, so next thing is getting that replaced I guess.

looks like a nice clean car

isit just me or do the wheels look quite small though?

Cheers bud. Yeah the wheels are tiny  I personally love the look of pepperpots but they are only 15's which is really anoying. Going for something bigger soon.

nice wheel choice mate, I've got the same for my 9n but black with polished lips, just saving for low pro tyres:/ how far down are your coilies wound?

Thanks man. Pretty much all the way down at the front, and about 90mm on the rear. Still not low enough to pull off 15s imo!

Looking good but in my opinion I don't like the pepper pots on there they look way to small on there. But loving the lows and have you thought about getting reinforced metal sheet under rather than the plastic? Just a thought gunna make one for my 6n when I finally get coilies (due to lack of money)

ah right yeah thats a bout the same drops I can get with my coilies so will have to go about the same, didn't realise how small they would look tbf, but better than standard 14s:/ what tyres are you running?

Its been a while, out of winter mode now though and wound back down. Sitting about 100ish at the front and around 80mm on the rear.

Not much has happend over winter either if I'm honest, bought some 20mm spacers for the front, and had the tracking done seen as it was way, way out.

Thank you mate, I like how your is progressing as well.

Anyway, got a flat tyre today! Fooking great. Literally having the worst luck with my car at the minute, got clamped last week at uni now this. Boo

Not good :(. Have you changed any of your ICE?

New Sony Headunit mate

Yet more bad luck, car didnt start today! Figured it was either the alternator or battery, (although I only got a new battery about a month ago) but had work all day so gunna have a look tomorrow.

Oh sweet. Did you change from a double din to a single?

And gutted, any idea on what it was? Battery drain?

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks well nice mate, going to try and source myself some tidy pepperpots soon. Only had my 9N for about a month now though so I won't be starting on any mods soon.

I'll definitely need bigger wheels though if that's how low you are to pull them off, it would be squeaky bum time going over the massive speed bumps round mine if I was running that low!

I did man, looks like this:

Quite an audio buff if I'm honest (I'm a dj) so chose something quite subtle... the red goes with the dials!

Yup turns out it was a faulty battery, so a quick trip to motorserve and it was all done. Had another problem recently with a bizzare knocking/grinding noise, I initially thought it was the coilies but turns out it was the driveshaft?! Nothing major though just needed tightening/greasing. So all is well now! And didnt cost me anything.

Thank you mate. Yea pepperpots are an easy wheel choice as they bolt straight on, really like the look of them as well. However being only 15's you do have to go reallyyy quite low to pull them off. I'm surprised I didnt destroy my sump if I'm honest.

Anyhow pots are now off and getting sold, so currently the car sits like this...

Yeah man looks good. If you are going to fit a sub let me know got some wiring tips :D

My cars got a weird knock. I found out (after replacing my NSF Droplink and Balljoint) It was my break pads having no retaining spring :( So got to find 1 somewhere/ some how. Looks good even on hubs man. :)

Will do, its in my garage I'm just too lazy to get a wiring kit at the minute

Weird knocks are the worst man, took me an age attempting to figure out what was wrong, and even then I couldn't do it!

Thanks, not gunna lie after having it so low it is nice not having to worry about potholes, dogey roads and such. Although once someone ( ;) ) buys my pots i'll be looking for some new wheels.

Anyhow, had to go do some photography work today, so quick shot of the car:

Haha, they are indeed.

Not too sure wheel wise, something in the pepperpot design I should think as I reckon it suits the 9N quite well. Porsche teledials in 16" maybe. Need to build a little fund and have a look in the next couple of weeks.
