I'm thinking of cutting the springs on my 6n because I can't afford to buy lowering springs at the moment will do soon but not yet just wondering if anyone has done this before and did it work?

Well its only a temp thing I'm gunna put coilies on after christmas and a set of g60 ot g40s not to sure which ones yet

Cut the rear springs and its sitting just like it should just off the floor and the wheels tucked up in the arches with a nice amount of camber gunna do the front tomorrow

Please put a few pictures up of this if you don't mind?

I am in the same situation as you but not sure how you would measure the springs to cut them at the correct height!

i will get pics up s soon as i can the back is done and its sitting fine and tbh the insurance company arnt gunna know because I'm not planning on crashing lol i have put spacers inbetween the bolt and the rubber seat for the springs and now they are compact and wont come out unless i take the whole suspension apart. the front was a bit harder to do (well actually i haven't done it yet) because you need a 7mm alan key and a 20mm spanner and i dont have either till tuesday sp gunna do them then

I don't think the bloke who planted a modded, undeclared, mgf in the back of me in april planned it either, but he's getting fucked nonetheless. Way it sounds, his insurance are paying for the car i was in, he's off to court for my injury.

well no not really but some people are accudents waiting to happen and tbh I'm gunna be getting coilovers soon enough anyway and will declair them on my insurance but in the mean time if anything does happen i will just play dumb and say i thought it was like that standard and thats how i bought it

Its not worth cutting mate, just enjoy the fact you can drive pretty much anywhere with standard ride height before you become a slave to the potholes and speed bumps.

All declared told them it was on lowering springs they said it was fine just an extra 50 charge for changing part of my policy that's with the wheels air filter and springs all done.

Tbh tho it is worth cutting them. If your only looking for some thing like a 40mm drop and you were only going to replace the springs rather than the shocks too then it makes no sense to buy a set of 40mm springs when you could just chop a coil off for free and get the same results.

Exactly I just wanted to see how it was when I have lowered it with just 2 coils cut off and its good as it is tbh so y spend 50+ on new springs when chopping them gives me something to do and its free

I see what you mean but I'm not on a crusade against it, but with the mention of insurance and so on and seeing as he is getting coilies my suggestion was to enjoy driving without panicking about bottoming out whilst he is saving.

I haven't gone that low that I will be bottoming out all the time just low enough that its slightly noticeable and a better ride in the corners
