Ok so can anyone tell me some good Vw alloys that will go on Gt nicely. My mate had a 1.1 saxo, he put the VTR alloys and didnt have to pay more on insuance because its still standard on a saxo and it belongs to citroen.

Any alloys would be classed as a mod matey! Even if it is an optional extra for the car from the manufacturer that didnt have it when purchased. Generally you will tend to find, if a car has a higher spec trim then the insurance will reflect that and be slightly more.

Most insurers distinguish between optional extra alloys, and aftermarket ones. Possibly giving a lower risk weighting to optional extra, but I couldn't say for sure.

However you should declare either way, even if it came with them from the dealers etc. That said I doubt a lot of people do!

I would always Declare, wouldnt want the insurance void. Il have a word with the insurers see what they say, I could handle having the standard GT alloys but they dont look fantastic ;) you reckon insurance would moan if i was to resprayed them?

My insurance was only put up something like £10 (1%) when I declared alloys.

No mate, thats something that doesnt need declaring!

I have to declare stickers.... :disgust:

If they change colour you'd need to disclose this.

Before i went with brentacre, elephant only ever wanted £20 extra for my alloys. Better to declare than be left with your pants down if you have a crash

MOST companies wont charge extra for OEM wheels IF they were available on THAT model...this is because they know that VW will have tested them for that vehicle, so they know they're ok.

Eg, match wheels on a 6n...or SE wheels on a 6n2, however, as 6n2 SE wheels wernt an option on a 6n, they might get funny.

just ring and ask, what if i were to, explain they are on the same platform vehicle and such and see what they say.

anything different on youre car should be declared, oem or not, even if its a sticker.

£20 on top of your premium, so if a 10 month policy ten £2 a month or £1.67 if a 12 month.

I jst declared my lows and cost me an extra £40.32 a year so £4.03 a month :p

Best of declaring mate, your saving other motorists the hassle of having to deal with an uninsured driver should you drive into them with undeclared alloys and you dont have to keep on looking in the rear view for the popo!

Actually thats not bad, i could handle that on insurance :) think il just lower it, bbs allloys and a decat (only if i get a 92 or below reg though.... makes the decat legal then :) )

One last thing.... does it help alot by saying your in a club?

Thanks guys!!

wont make a blind bit of difference

I wondered why HIC asked me that question, they just said it was for sales research.

Some specialists do like you to be in a club, maybe it makes them think your a car enthusiast whos going to look after your pride and joy as apposed to going maccys wit ma lowz n sik exhaust 2 pik up sum bitches yeah?

Unless your like a drag racing club or something lol, in which case youd be doing 1/4 miles outside maccys instead y0
