Seat ibiza cupra's...fast?

Featured Replies

Right I'm looking at a ibiza 1.8t cupra, 2001, i found one that was 220bhp, and one of my mates (who is a jap freak) reckons a 1.6vtec civic with 160bhp will still be faster? Does anyone own or has owned a cupra so i can see what they are like speed wise?? Because they look awesome and wanna stay on the dub sence :)

Not a chance that a 1.6 civic will beat a 220bhp ibiza a quote from a very wise man i know (Guy)

Vtec, like turbo lag but without the good bit at the end

220bhp will wipe the floor with 160bhp, as long as they're in the same weight car (which they roughly are)

The 20vt has torque low down and boost... the vtec is nowt special, you'll soon get bored of it... I know I did!

Thanks for the replies guys, been looking at 220-250bhp ibiza's, been told there fast but just wanted too see what others said, my jap loving friend hates them and thinks the engines are slow and rubbish so gonna get one and prove him wrong ;)

You'll obliterate them!

Should buy my 280bhp polo and show him who's boss, haha!

1.6 Vtec civic i'm guessing you mean a B16 from an EK4/9 Civic?

They're 158bhp standard, easilly tunable to 180-190bhp. ( 180ish BHP from a B18 from an import or a DC2 Integra JDM )

Ibiza Cupra is 150bhp as standard, but due to being forced induction, means big gains are easy ( and cheaper, undoubtedly )

Personally, i'd go for the civic :\ but dont tell anyone ;)

I had an Ibiza with a printout from 2001 as 195bhp & 263ft lbs of torque

I think it had other bits and pieces added after the map

it went like shit off a shovel, pretty much nothing touched it in all the little blaps I had with people. Only thing I got out powered by was an e39 m5 & a s14 200sx

my old one is back up for sale as the local lad I sold it to can't afford to run it as a second car :( it's done 57k with full history.... Check edition classifieds!

Also vtec is wank and vtec cars are slow!

Well educated statement there.

your first post really shows how little you know about power delivery

Vtec = loads of noise and no go

you can have all the bhp you want but with no torque it really is meaningless

Probably watched this video:

But of cause there is no proof of modifications with this video.

Personally I would prefer a EK9 B16 but cupras are nice cars.

turbo ftw, fuck revs

Both in standard form, the Honda would walk all over the Cupra! So yeah, that video is correct. That EK9 sounds suspiciously like it has a K20 in it though!

I'd go for a Polo GTI.

Just sayin'

The only way a B16 Honda (civic/CRX) would walk over a Ibiza Cupra is round a set of twisty corners.

Not at all pal, i understand torque, i merely stated i'd take the VTEC Honda over the Turbo'd Cupra.. my preference.

A friend of mine had a 9n3 GTi ( Essentially a Cupra ) and the way that thing took off was unreal, that was running a Custom Code stage 2 map, and a few other bits and bobs, basically it was 231bhp and about 245ft-lbs of torque. JeffGTi was his forum name, not sure if he used club polo or just UKPolos.

VTEC FTW.

How so if a cupra is 150hp standard? I know this could re open the argument about torque, but really?

if were talking standard v standard = 8bhp difference with the same weight but the ibiza has way more torque much lower down (ie more USABLE power).... Work it out

has anybody bigging up vtec actually driven a mk3 cupra, or even a vtec let alone both? Also pretty much all the cupras are at least stage 1 so £ for £ a much better buy

Btw I'm all for revs and naturally aspirated engines, just not wanky ones with no torque!

I like you :)

I've driven both, I wasn't impressed at all by the vtec.

Civics just seem to be the in thing at the minute, which is great for me, because I low embarrassing them so much in my 20vt

 your polo is absolutly gawjus i'd sale my nan to have your polo :ninja:

Get me £8k and its yours.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm  so tempting. :-D

Well educated statement there.

Gotta agree with this guy

Especially the "pretty much nothing touched it" apart from a hell of a lot of cars that are actually fast and every single motorbike pretty much above 600cc......
