What do i get.......

Featured Replies

Heres the deal, iv finally come to realise i cant actually afford to run the kind of cars i want without being unable to do anything else  I dont want to spend my early 20s missing out on things just to be able to say, "well i drove a 2.0 16v" or whatever.

I really really want a g40, but i am starting to think it will kill me in terms of running costs (could afford it, but like i say i want to be able to do other things with my life  )

I dont really want a diesel but depending what it is i could make a sacrifice, will be looking at around the 2k mark. I dont really want it to be much slower than the abf ibiza i already have though is the problem and have absolutely no idea what to look for

I have been toying with the idea of getting another GT as theyr good on fuel and nippy little fuckers with a few mods, but after it being about 2 years since i had one and having had a few faster cars since i think it may ruin the "GT experience" for me  Also toyed with building a 16v mk2 on injection (like guys) but dunno if i can be arsed

Any suggestions?

*EDIT* B-Shaw, before you post moaning that I'm not getting a G - fuck off and finish the blue one

Better let me know then dude ;) Il have to hurry up and get the ibiza sold too

Start selling crack?

if you want a g40, then buy one. going for second best will only end up with you regretting it. i know as I've been there. bought a mk4 1.6 8v glx with all the toys, big bumpers etc. Ended up wishing I had saved a bit longer and bought a 16v like I wanted.

happy ending though, as I gave it to my mrs after a couple of years and bought a g40 to replace it with.

A std g40 really isnt that expensive to run and maintain. Ok so you have to budget for a charger rebuild, but other than that in my 5 years of owning one, its never been any more expensive than any other car I've owned.

Look after it with regular oil changes and don't spank it all day everyday and it will last a long, long time.

The trick is to find one which hasnt been modded to feck as that seems to be when they start becoming money pits.

Fast, reliable, fun, a g40 ticks all the boxes.

my g40 is on 161k now and it still works fine and hasnt cost me a fortune. Even the charger rebuilt only set me back £300 (that included buying a spare charger and the kit to do the rebuild myself)

Gt, they never stop being fun. If you get bored, just make it go faster

G60?

does running a 2.0 really cost that much? surely the cost of changing cars in general would outweigh any savings!?

Gt, they never stop being fun. When you get bored, fit a 16v

Stick to the chopper. Eat healthier. Go to the gym. See how much power you can extrap next year. Aim for 4bhp.

buy a 6n2 tdi, remap, reap the benefits.

get a gt

Fabia VRS on a good remap.

I know it may be too new, but trust me, its worth it.

A good re-map and your pushing almost 200bhp

and stupid amounts of torque.

I'm tempted by a gt but after my last mk3 (130bhp 16v) i think it might just be a disappointment tbh
