What shall i do ? :(

Featured Replies

Right i want to change the air inlet system, I was thinking of getting a mk3 golf elbow, But thats what everyone is doing and I'm not even sure if it works okay ?

So i was looking at a k&n air filter that just bolts on over that ugly frying pan, As shown half way down this page :

http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?...Elbow&st=50

I'm just not sure if it will be any good neither ? If i was to get one for my ''mk3 polo 1992 1 litre'' which one would you say i would need

links dont work, but a mk3 golf elbow would be fine and tbh on a 1.0 your not gona notice anything from it really anyway apart from a bit more noise

Why wont a mk3 SPI golf elbow work? Does for everyone else whose fitted them.

The site is

http://www.performance-filters.co.uk

Click volkswagen on the side then 'k&n bolt on kits'

Thing is i wanted to be abit Different and get a air filter onto it, The elbow is a pain to find its so many different types of them, Most dont come with a pipe or the bolts you need, And would probably work out more expensive getting the elbow, Bolts, Pipe, And filter :(

I dont really care about performance just wanted the engine bay to look abit more neat when you pop the bonnet :)

There to much of a pain to get ahold of and nearly all of them are second hand anyway mate.

Peice of piss to get hold of. Scrap yards are full of them.

This. I think you should leave your car standard.

for me it was one of the more successful mods lol, loads in scrappy, easy to fit and some gains for the price and why would it matter if the elbow was second hand?

This, i don't know about this particular one but surely the inlets only a bit of plastic anyways so doesn't matter if its second hand?

No i dont mean it like that guys, I mean could have holes in, Could be screwed in some way, But i think i want to go with the k&n airfilter i think it looks much better IMO, The golf elbow looks nice but then having a pipe then a airfilter from it dont really intrest me. Only my word though

Plus could someone link me from here the bolt on filter i should buy

1992, 1045cc, Polo. Just want to make sure I'm 100% right on buying this filter

It really wont matter if theres an odd crack/hole in an elbow, even if it did you would be notice and just purchase a different one.

Filter.

buying one of those will result in heat soak and incur a loss in engine efficiency/performance. do the elbow mod or just leave it!

Just chuck another standard airfilter in there. Its not like your gonna notice any difference on an otherwise standard 1.0L. Probably better of spending the money on a full service, will most likely see more of a gain through that.

100% correct do a good service and buy an uprated panel filter if you are that paranoid about 1l power. personally I'd save money and buy a faster car when insurance is cheaper.

What would they actually do in a full service that will make the car anybetter though ? :S

Oil,filters, leads, plugs. Just generally any consumable items. all depends on how much you want to spend!

It clears the shit out and make the car perform at its best, say for example you were gonna run a marathon, and all you had to drink was lucozade which had a load of compost in it, you wouldn't get very far until you puked. changing the oil and filter is like clear lucozade that is clear for longer, enabling you to perform well. same with spark plugs and HT leads brighter more powerful spark meaning you use the chemical energy stored in the fuel more effectively, Like drinking redbull and doing fuck all means it doesn't use its full potential, but drink some red bull and go for a run you are utilising the full potential. the best and only thing I would do to a one litre is service it.

I know you had to explain that stupid but actually helped more then anyone else, How much do they usually cost for a full good service mate ?

I mentioned about getting one of them or a golf elbow, I thought the k&n would be really good, But everyones told me not to get one for some reason or another :/

I really like the thought of the bolt on k&n filter i seen it on here but i ante 100% how well its worked out for them thats all.

Isn't there an elbow AND filter in the for sale section??

you can buy oil from pretty much anywhere Opie Oils can tell you what you need then shop around until you the cheapest but be wary of stuff they have in supermarkets, particularly ASDA own brand, but for the rest I'd say pop into Euro Car Parts or similar or maybe even on their website spark plugs can be had for as little as a couple of quid each (don't be fooled by the ones for like £12 each you will need new ignition leads (or HT, Depending on which way you are inclined) you can probably do it for less than £60 and its not hard stuff to do yourself.

this

will probably help, its an australian youtube car show, but everything they do is correct and by the book, also some of them are quite entertaining.

its you are call but i think you should put a BMC CDA air intake on it mate or instead to get good performance and quite a big increase on bhp run it on bike carbs!!! :-D
