Where to get pressed plates?

Featured Replies

Hi peeps,

I've got pressed plates on my 6n2 gti but I've just been given a private reg for my birthday.

I'm going to register the new reg number tomorrow and I'd like to be able to get some pressed plates without having to send all my details in the post and wait for them to come back.

Surely there must be someone in the south west who does them there and then for you, just like any regular plastic reg plate.

Please help me out if anyone knows of somewhere other than dubmeister.com

Thanks guys

Ebay Pressed Plates

where i got mine and they are cheaper, faster, and slightly more ghetto than dubmeister as they don't need proof of car ownership etc... which is bad, but they get to you quicker

I got mine from that guy and they came within 2 days and they are really good quality

Does anyone know why the German pressed plates are illegal but the 1s with the UK font are ok?

Is it just the different font what makes the German 1s illegal?

Yep, you have to use Charles Wright front for them to be legal.

In order for pressed metal plates to be legal they need to be

A. Reflective

B. the correct Charles wright font

C. The legal BS markings clearly stated

D. and either gb, eng or plain style

Pressed German plates are usually none of these things as legally they can only be produced as show plates

Thanks mate :-)

Think I'll get some pressed and see how I get on as the old pressed plates never got attention, I'll just keep the acrylics in the boot just incase lol

German plates look wrong in my opinion and are illegal but other that good for you

I thought they looked ok but then that's cos they was already on it when I bought it so I've not really seen much different.

I've just been looking at the UK Legal Pressed Plates on dubmeister and eBay, and they actually look quite smart with the correct font etc.

Spose it's a matter of trying them and seeing what they look like but will still be better than the acrylics :-)
