just looking for some info

Featured Replies

i have a 1.0ltr 6n 1999 polo 8 month ago the catalytic fell off from rusting around the edges so i did go for he cheaper option of a straight pipe in its place essentially de-cating the car my MOT it up for renewal Friday but i still can’t afford a cat for the car but a friend of a friend yesterday mention it may not need one so really the info aim looking for is do i need the cat.

if so where is cheapest place for such a part in Manchester the cheapest quote I’ve had is £120 for a low cost low grade no vw part cat but i have also just thought of taking it in for mot to see what happens and not tell them it’s got no cat there is only the back silencer 3” tail pipe and one just after where the cat was

any info or help would be so helpful thanks

If it's a 6n it will need a cat as it's past a certain year for exhaust emissions your options are try a Scrapyard although this probally won't be any help as nearly all scrapyards including the one I work in cut the cats off straight away & sell them to cat recylers . I wouldn't let on that you have decatted it & just see how you go really worst thing they can do is fail it hope you can get it sorted mate
