Painting my wing mirrors

Featured Replies

Hey guys, iv had my 6n2 for a while now and have decided I'm going to make it into a project as it isnt currently on the road, I'm going to start off with cheaper mods, as i dont have a great deal of money at the moment.

How difficult would it be to respray my wing mirrors myself?

i have dont a bit or car painting before but not a lot.

very easy i should think, i don't know how 6n2 mirrors come apart exactly, but take it off, strip it down to the shell.

I'm guessing you want to paint them cause they're textured black plastic? In which case you need to sand them smooth, going finer in grades of paper as you progress to get a smooth finish. Then once down to the finest grade, and happy with the texture. Prime, paint and laquer. Once left to dry for a bit, coat of wax and re fit.

It may be a good idea to get a couple of spare mirrors to do this too, that way if it goes wrong it doesn't matter so much.

To support the first reply make sure that there is no dust on them after sanding as this will show up and ruin a good finish
