I'm currently having one made by max.

a lot of engine builders modify cam pulleys into verniers, and a lot of the after market ones are actually shit quality aluminium which are prone to teeth wear and such, no matter how much jazz they dress it up in such as being anodised or coated in special things etc.

i have more confidence in running the oem pulley, you can make them dead concentrically and use thread lock etc.

I have too been thinking about this, but I have done all I can too ensure this won't happen, by making sure the pulleys are modified to a very high level of quality. Being a fully qualified production engineer I know what I'm doing, but I cannot put a garuntee on them, neither can the people selling bike carb inlet manifolds etc but its a risk people take when purchasing parts from private sellers.

To everyone who is interested in purchasing a vernier pulley, I am unfortunately not able to garuntee these will never fail. I have done everything I can to ensure they are of the utmost quality, any failure will be down to the strength of the original pulley.

Pictures of the finished pulley will be uploaded on Thursday morning.

By the way, I will only be able to supply 7 of these for now. The final price is £70 including return postage.

Fair enough chap, making a few for friends is one thing, but advertising it as a service to the public could cause you grief somewhere along the line, I understand your point about the manifolds, but if they fail, at worst you run a little lean with an air leak, a cam pulley giving up is a different matter. Quite interested in seeing the product though.

As for the quality of the Kent pulley, it's been on the engine since 2008 and racked nearly 20000miles, nothing untoward, no eaten cambelts or runout from the cam.

Not necessarily , a weld could crack at any time causing a cylinder to run lean unknowingly. Takes around 20 seconds for it to melt a piston if its running slightly less than stoichometric.

At the end of the day , its the risk you take when buying a custom machined part, if you want a 100% garuntee then you need to pay for it.

If I can source a spare pulley, I may be interested. It would be for my daily GT, so taking the original pulley off that isn't an option.
