Alright chaps,

Apologies if I sound like a retard here, I'm a young pup whos still wet behind the ears but here goes.

I have an X-reg 6n2 on the standard 13 inch steelies (same ones found on the 6n), I've got a set of 15 inch BBS RA's I want to stick on it but unfortunately I bought them without wheel bolts. I've test fitted them on my car using the standard bolts and had a wee 2 minute test drive up and down the street and everything seemed hunky-dorey. However, I just need to know if in the long run this is a good or bad idea, are standard wheel bolts too weak or short to withstand BBS RA's?

Apologies again if I sound like a downy. Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated.

did the wheel bolts go deep into your wheel hubs when you tightened them up? Some bbs RA's do need longer wheel bolts, I had a set of 13x6 ra's that needed extended bolts. thats not to say your polo has the same size bolts as mine though.

Not got a clue mate. Tbh, the standard wheel bolts really dont look all that long so I cant imagine they did go deep into the hub, I'll maybe buy some longer wheel bolts and try them out. Better safe than sorry eh lol.

I've just browsed through the search engine and found that the size of standard polo wheel bolts are M12 (Thread diameter) x 1.5 (pitch) x 23.5 (Thread length). That's my curiousity pretty much satisfied apart from I dono which length of Thread I should look for. I dont want the bolts coming out the other side of the hub lol

Correct. having too longer bolts can be one big fail, espicaly on the rear brake drums as the wheel bolts hit them if they have been screwed in to deep.

I would try refitting one 13" inch steel wheel, rembering how much thread goes into the hub then refit your BBS RA and see if the thread goes in the same or simalar amount, and go from there.

are your standard bolts a radius seat, as ra's are all 60 degree taper aren't they? if so then this is a very very bad idea...

Will do mate, thanks. The standard wheel bolts are radius type, I've read on some posts that apparently there are mercedes bolts which can be used for fitting BBS RA's on 6n2 Polo's, all I'd need to do is visit a breakers yard.

bbs ras are all radius seat. the 14x6 and 13x6 wheels require longer than std bolts. the 13x5.5 and the 15" ones are fine with std bolts
