I have just bought a 6n polo slightly modified. I put my key into the drivers door and turned it to open, I then pulled my key out and the full lock barrel came out, and to me looked like a chopped flathead screwdriver siliconed in its place?

What is this problem, and how can it be rectified?

I also take it the screwdriver isn't meant to be there..

WTF! haha, id take the car stright back to where you got it from

It could be a case of someone broke the lock and fixed it like a pikey.

Id try to find out why the lock prevously broke and go from there. It may mean a new barral from the scrappers if it unfixable.

well, one of my friends told me that there was some form of clip that may have fell into the door, but that screwdriver isn't very convincing lol

if it looks like this

its the correct item. and your lock has fallen apart and you buy repair kits from ebay.

I think that is going to be my next action. I mean for the sake of seven quid, I might aswell get one, I just don't realise why the kid who had my car before me had done this monstrosity.

Omg, mines done similar to this... I was on holiday last month in scotland and we was using the locks manually as a fuse had blown... Went to lock the drivers door and the key didnt wanna come out! We tried for ages to get it out but ended up calling aa.... :/

now needs a new lock barrel :/

Pmsl . That is fucking great mate . I would never come with that lol . My paddle broke on mine to I just got an after Market door handle with a new lock , paddle , keys etc of eBay for about £15 if I remember rightly . Just an easier option than messing around try to fit a paddle . . Dave
