Hi, Iv got a mk3 1 litre that suddenly wont turn over :s First off went for the obvious and checked the battery which was fine and then tried a spare golf starter that I had lying around and that fired right away but was of no use as the shaft is shorter so wont touch the flywheel. Popped upto the local scrappy and got a tested original starter motor, put that on and it wont work? cleaned up the earths and checked the connections and they all have power upto each of them and it bump starts straight away and runs sweet as a nut. Really lost on what it could be so any help appreciated cheers

What if theres too much resistance on the wires going to the starter, that could cause it not to start.

Did you drop test the battery or jsut put a multimeter on it?

Sorted it now, had a blonde moment and connected it up wrong, cheers for your help guys
