Doune Hillclimb

Featured Replies

Hi all, made a wee video of Doune Hillclimb and thought I'd share. Was playing around with new DSLR so did my best to cobble something together from the little bits of footage I shot. Thought some people might like to see some motorsport shenanigans! It's short...and loud...so whilst I recommend you have them on, make sure your speakers aren't on too loud!

Highlights are the red single seater (GWR Raptor) which is a 1600cc missile and regularly beats 3000cc+ cars. The Evo at the end is super charged and turbo charged and is producing somewhere north of 800BHP. The Rover 25 has a 280+ BHP K-series tuned by Judd, who normally make Le Mans engines. The Caterham is driven by a woman, and she's FAST!

Any tips welcome from DSLR/videographers. Going to make the next one longer for sure...but will have to squeeze filming in between running the Polo up the hills!

Looks good Tav, just been watching some other in-car footage of Doune, pretty tight track, evil looking right handed crest near the end!!

Good stuff!

Cool, would love to see some longer vids. Maybe also worth investing in a tripod if you're going to be doing lots of filming/photos?

Any photos and details of your polo?

Yeah that hill has about a 25% gradient, can't tell in the video. I walked up it and papped myself. Driving up it is going to be hair raising.

I've been looking at tripods but they can be pretty expensive! A nice pan head one would be good, better save the pennies though. Car's coming together slowly, not posting pics/vids till it's finished. It's going be a class A1 hillclimb car, so sub 1400cc and road legal...still have a few tricks up my sleeve though to make it quicker!

It's a 550D Canon, seems to be good. First DSLR and didn't want to spend TOO much pennies.
