driving without headlights fitted

Featured Replies

right i want to remove my headlights to clean them and maybe spray the inner bit, however i'm not sure if i will have it done in time for work so i'm wondering is it illegal to drive during daytime without any headlights fitted?

i will still have the lower fogs in place though

argh think i'll give that a miss then

knowing my luck i'll get pulled over by the most pissed off officer in the met and have every inch of my car scrutinized

wish i could do it ant the weekend but i'm either at college or work all week n tomorrow is my only half day

he only got away because he weren't seen driving

oh well thanks for the replies

it's illegal to drive a car with a failed bulb so i reckon it's more illegal to drive without any lights at all!

maybe just strap 2 torches to the bonnet and rig up some sort of flasher for the indicator... (the torches always seem to work on Top Gear)

As far as i'm aware, you don't need headlights on a car in daylight.

However, the tyre tread law only exists because of rain, yet slicks are still illegal on a sunny day.

So i really wouldn't like to call rights on it.

I would be guided by what would pass or fail an MOT. No headlights would fail an MOT, therefore I would say it makes a car un-roadworthy?

u not got any spare headlights and some gaffa tape? hahaha

i decided against doing

will have to wait for another day 8-)

with a full mot it is illegal. you can however get daytime use only mot, whereby there is no requirement for headlights. usefull if you have a track car where one of the headlights is replaced with an air intake instead.

yeah same as like road legal race replica bikes...no lights etc, only daytime riding allowed :)

and i see your point mikey, however, its more likely for a downpour to occur during the day than the sun burn out :p

When does daytime end? 8-)

its til the point of having the need of your lights on i guess?

what if its a dark rainy day?
