Jetta front back on (still need a drivers head light if anyone has one?)

Rear pretty much finished and new bumper fitted

About free years ago the battery fell out due to rust, it was getting late and I needed the car for work the next day. This bodge was only supposed to last until the next weekend

Chopped all the shit out and weld be welding in some good metal but smoothing it out a bit and relocating the battery to the boot

Started fitting the rear seats, I was gonna take the easy route and just bolt the back part of the seat to the metal behind it like the jetta seats were but that would be too easy, besides they will fit better and make the car a bit more practical of I fit them how they were in the golf

The bottom parts of the seat are a direct bolt in but with the back parts that's far from the case, there are no clips or brackets for them at all so I have had to cut these out of the vr6 and weld them into the jetta. So far all 3 of the bottom brackets are done so the seats pivot and fold down like they would in the golf

Next up is to cut out this dividing metal section as not only does it being there make this whole exercise pointless but it also prevents the rear parts from sitting back as far as they should at the top, not by much but enough to make them feel a littletoo upright

Once that is out of the way i'll weld in the brackets that the clips on the top of the seat grab hold of and jobs a good un

I was gonna have to undertake a similar process with the leathers for the merc. However I'm a lazy nice person ,I just went for fucking big cable ties instead makes me want to go play with my jetta.

Olly taking away the boot carpet would remove more structural integrity than removing that

If you look at the photo of it in the car it shows that its only connected to the shell at the top and bottom and this is only with spot weld's, the section itself is so flimsy that if you push on it it flexes so if there was any twisting going on at the rear that section would just twist and flex with it. It's only purposes seem to be to add a bit of strength to the front edge of the parcel self and to fix the rear seats to. I'll be welding in a small bar along the edge of the shelf just to give it back the support its lost

Progress on the other mk2 has slowed a lot, I'm picking up some hocks for it tonight but I've been busy on the jetta and getting the mk2 ready for gti fest as well as home/work/family stuff so haven't had any time to work on the other mk2 and johns been too busy with his side line of making rock 'n' roll beds and side bars for vw vans so he hasn't had time either. It will be done and it should be nice when finished, its just gonna take longer to get to that stage than planned. Tbh I could do with finding a new boot lid for it before paint too but been fucked about by some one on here so that's put us back too

I'm pretty sure it is I paid £300 for it and it was split mint! sold it to a mate locally for £300 and he sold it to a girl. I would rock a vento in capri green but can see a jetta maybe coming along again :)

fuck me, my jettas been round CP more than polios ringpiece! Its currently being used a mercedes parts storage facility, but ill have it finished next year, promise.

With the dark nights drawing in it seems nigh on impossible to get anything done on this recently. I've got started on one long running issue with the car tonight tho, I've never had a working rev counter as the diesel one I got with the conversion was fucked, so today in steps the legend Kiz with a set of gti clocks. I've changed the rev counter face to that of the fucked diesel clocks so it now has the correct 5k red line ect

And i'll be using this DSL-1 to convert the signal from the w terminal on the alt to a signal the petrol rev counter can read

And thanks to mattnaz it now has a new head light

Pulled the arch trims off one side for the first time in a long time to see what horrors are lurking under them but was pleasantly surprised, couple of little holes on the sill but very easy fix. The rear arch that I pikey rolled and left unpainted I was expecting to be shot but nothing more than surface rust

youv done such a smart job with that grinder, looks almost factory would you do mine? I'm not sure i can afford work of such a high standard though :( Would you accept instalments of bens blowies as payment?
