Longboarding! (the skating kind, not surfing)

Featured Replies

So first off, hello! I'm pretty new to longboarding really, my mate has had a longboard for about a year and we've been going down hills and stuff (me on my mountain board!) and I've never really paid much attention to it apart from knowing his board was pretty cool.

But recently I've been wanting a peice of it myself and on Saturday I bought myself a Mindless Maverick ML4200. How exciting. It came yesterday and I love it. I'm currently learning to nose stall as well as just getting comfortable riding it.

Some of the videos on youtube are friggin' awesome though and I aspire to be able to do some of the things seen in them some time.

So come on then, share your stories of awesome tricks you can do, post up photos of your boards, any videos you've got, any tips for tricks or whatever!! Oh and I'll wack a photo of my board up when I get the chance to take one!

thought this was gonna be a surfing thread...

We used to cruise about on sector 9 boards, could get 5 of us on my mates one and pop down the town, must have looked very odd. One guy actually had a speedo mounted in the deck, by the front truck. I'm sure we hit 30mph, but, looking back it was probably really inaccurate.

Also used to muck about on those short metal decks, alley cats i think. Fitted with oldschool massively wide kryptonic wheels... :)

fitted red leds under the tail for night sessions down the roads.

was great to jus carve about on a gentle hill, aswell as luge style down a friggin' steep one lol

I'm not a long boarder myself but a good freind has also just started with a custom made one from the US he always has me watching videos, this is my favorite

Yeah I should've said the skating kind.. Now ammended! But Slim the guys who's made that video have loads of awesome skate longboarding videos!

Daryl, you got 5 on one board?! Haha me and my mate hit 30 down some hills but its not very hilly round here. But I love carving around like you said, way better than standard skateboarding! ;)

I got a lush prototype slalom board which I use to skate 4 miles into Bristol :) Had it for about 5 years really nice board.

Wanna get a bigger, longer board though for the larger hills

Also used to ride a banana board to uni years ago. Small narrow plastic board with wide ass wheels. I was able to have a 10 min lie in cos i could rag it down the hill to lectures whilst everyone else had to walk 2/3 miles lol

got my normal sized deck jus sitting by my front door, haven't ridden it for ages....

i've just started making my own longboard for a laugh. I've designed a maple ply deck just waiting to have it machined and bolt the bits on.

Always wanted to longboard properly down a massive hill :)

Not really enough hills around here to do it properly though, so I'll stick to my normal skateboard.

I think we're getting some longboards in at where I work soon so I might have to have a little play on them :p
