Anyone else seen some silly priced stuff?

Anyone else seen some silly priced stuff?

A Mk2 for £1375?

i might go into a vw dealership, buy parts that will soon be obsolete, then wait until that happens, at which time I shall place said items on eBay at 200% mark up.

I hate scene tax.

standard mk3 golf grab handles for £50? He sells things you find in scrapyards at silly prices

Edited by Matt Mk3loon

went to a vw scrappy where they had 2 completely haggered old ronal teddys, I asked how much, they said on ebay they go for £50 so 50 each, to which I replied "what? those completely fucked wheels for 100 quid, you're kidding me?" needless to say I didn't buy them.

sad thing is you can walk into some dealers and still buy them for £35 a side.

ebay "rare"

It's not just "scene" stuff that is stupidly overpriced just now, everything is.

Just people short of cash trying to get it all in at once I think.

I'm always on the lookout for cheap cars...but lately I've seen alot of 10-15 year old cars with adverts like:

1996 (insert car name here)

No tax or MOT

Has a slight starting problem/misfire/wont start/been sitting ages

Just needs some tlc

Shouldn't take much to MOT

£600 ono

I mean what? Its worth scrap value at best which is what £150 a ton if your lucky!

Shit like that really gets to me!

its not just VW's ddo.

theres a hella spotlamp grill for a ford being sold as NOS it was up last year as i bid on it (lamps are the same as polo ones), came across it last night back up for sale, and its gained 45 pound over the price last year. lol

Scene tax sucks. Cant afford any of the stuff i want, as its all ridiculously over-priced. What makes it worse is people will buy it at such stupid prices :x . If everyone stopped buying it prices would crash and burn  . I never sell anything for stupid prices.

In complete contrast to the topic, there's a set of chrome MK1 Golf/Polo wheel centres on ebay - for 99p.

all you have to do is look in the for sale sections on here gt engines 200 quid 1.4 afh 350 how does anyone afford engine conversions with muppets like that about i only paid 200 for my car

Thunder cats is scene. it will be the next big thing.

The price of 80's toys is now silly. Time to search the attic. lol

Well, they were going for 99p - auction ended this morning and they'd been won for £79.50

Plus £15 post.

And that after a 14-bid battle between eight bidders. Seems scene tax is recession proof..

What?

Matt that's a good price, do you expect people to just give stuff away because you bought a car cheap? £200 seems to of been the going rate for GT conversions for years (think I paid about that for mine about 5 years ago) and now afh conversions are becoming popular in cars other 6n's the price will go up slightly like it has with demand increasing. A standard afh setup in an early polo will give similar power as a standard g40 conversion but for a 3rd of the price, how is that not a bargain?

The problem here isn't scene tax, its people wanting some thing for nothing, in the case of these conversions they will transform a standard polo into a totally different beast, how else could you double the power of a 1.3 spi mk3 for £350? As with every thing if you shop around you can get them cheaper, but for what your getting I hardly think £350 is a steep price

Don't get me wrong i've seen people trying to sell afh conversion for like 500 and thought wtf! Even had some for offer me just the bare engine for that once, but 3-350 for a full setup really isn't that bad. Then you have the opposite end of the coin with the monster spec afh that's just sold on here for only 450 because the lad wanted a quick sale, the cams in it would cost that alone!

People seem to have a rule, that if you bought a car for X amount you cant buy anything that costs more for the car because it makes no sense.

I paid £100 for my latest one.... Doesn't mean I'm gunna get engine conversions for £50. Oh yeah, i did

But yeah, i paid £100 for it, the wheels going on it are worth 10x that... Same goes for the engine, and various other things.

£200 for a full GT conversion is good, just cause i was selling 75% of one for £80 doesnt mean thats how much others will want. I just wanted it gone, and only paid £50 for it myself

things are only worth what you are willing to pay, i bought my polo for £325, it didn't stop me paying £600 for a respray and that was at a knock down price

if you want to irradicate scene tax just don't buy the item and the seller will have to reduce the price to a reasonable amount, if you give in and buy the item, you are as bad as the seller

Everything on that site is over priced mate, there was a ''rebuilt'' 25k mini on there classic cooper s mk3 iirc i wouldnt mind but it wasent ''rebuilt'' everything was new and nothing was right! colour scheme wasent an option on that model wrong period parts its just wrong! teks the piss!

Rant over.

True about a lot of expensive stuff on there but if you browse it for a while you'll find some bloody nice cars.
