anybody done it or know how hard it will be to do?

also thinking of removing the cat.. will i need a decat pipe? or would it be possible to just weld in another length of exhaust?

No reason you couldn't weld in another bit of pipe to replace the cat and side exits are easy on mk3 polo's so long as you want it to exit on the passenger side. The exhaust already points in that direction before bending back out towards the back so cut it off before the bend and weld on some more pipe so it reaches out to the sill

i did a side exit on my mk2 bready and was a pile o piss :) I had a 4-2 mani, 2-1 downpipe so i cut the 2-1 and took one pipe tothe drivers side (bit awkward) and one to the passenger (easy)

Its hardly any louder without the backbox to be honest.

I'd keep the center box tbh, a straight through pipe on an n/a engine would be very loud

Depends if your running a catalyst or not, I would defiantly run a centrebox either way.

i had motorbike silencers on mine cause i had them comin out just in front of the front wheels and not alot of room

Saf a side exit is quiter (inside the car at least) than no back box, its probably due to the sound being chucked out the side of the car behind the driver rather than underneath and resonating around the inside of the cabin

done the side exit exhaust just having a bit of a problem finding somewhere to bracket it up :/

running it without atleast the backbox will burn the pistons to fuck within a few thousand miles the engine needs backpressure
