Haha these are great!

Couple pop to mind for me, changed the front pads on this little clio, all fine went and had lunch, came back, jumped straight in the clio to move it.....................didn't pump the pedal before hand :paranoid: scariest few seconds of my life haha

I've done this before, my drive goes downhill aswell so that was a brown trouser moment.

Also I've done this about 3 times now, washed my car and left the wipers up, then gone to open the bonnet to check oil, water etc and scraped a nice bit of paint from the top edge of the bonnet >.<

I had a dodgy electrical issue with my mk2 and could always hear a clicking with the ignition on. I traced the path of the spark and thought I'd found it at the king lead. Disconnected and put my ear to it with it connected to the coil... As cymro said, a shocking ordeal!

Also rebuild a mk2 engine with Ancillaries and all then put it into the car few months later I needed to change the alternator, but couldn't get a spanned on the bolt head. I'd only gone and put the long alternator bolt though from the wrong side when building the engine. Cue many frustrating minutes with a hacksaw blade :retard:

Driving off with the locking wheel nut tool still attached has to be the most common thing, must have happened several times to me

be done that three times now.. The last time id given up hope of finding it, a week later I saw it at the end of my street when walking the dog. Lucky me eh?

Oh and there was that time id left my lock nut in the garage and then conveniently that night I had a blow out.. It was a long night

Monkey man: Agreeing to do a wishbone on Lukes BMW.

Done that oil one before. think its pretty common.

My common one is forgetting to connect the king lead and standing there scratching my head trying to work out whats wrong.

That BMW was a fucking nightmare! Guy in Pontarddulais owns it now and In fairness he's taken damn good care of it compared to luke ragging it round everywhere!

Is it the bmw one were one nuts very kindly put at the bottom of the engine bay and a bitch to get to?

 done loads of them now a lot easyier with air tools and a ramp several extensions from the top :)

How did you guess?

We had issues with every single part of doing the wishbones, a nightmare was putting it kindly. sure I threatened to set it on fire a few times and would have if my car wasnt in the same workspace.

Draining oil into a bucket. Did everything else perfectly alright, I just forgot to remove the bucket when I was driving the car down the ramps! Cue mad dash for sawdust!! :D

Took all the HT leads off a V8 at once, that took me ages to sort out, it's not like you can tell if they're running rough.

just drove to work, noticed a nocking noise from the drivers side front wheel area, absolutely dreading the possibility of needing CV Joint, bearings, bushings whathaveyou as I'm totally skint at the moment.....read through a few topics in the tech help section and then something dawned on me... i'd had the wheels off tuesday, giving everything a coat of WD40 cause doing suspension swap next week...just been out to check and yep  ...all barre one of the wheel nuts are only finger tight :?

Went to jetwash some parts this morning at work. Went to test the steam generator by pulling the trigger on the lance. Bare in mind this kicks out water and some sort of cleaning agent at several hundred psi, as its for washing all the shit from the underneath of buses. i did this with one hand, nearly knocked myself out when the lance inevitably recoiled into my forehead. I'm now sporting a nice red speedbump down the middle of my forehead.

Was doing something random on the car, left the oil cap on the top of the engine, drove 15ish miles to do mates a lift, on way back I smell burning, pull over and faced with oil caked on everything and anything! Found the cap about a mile from my house pure luck!

Another one, lowering my old fiesta, trying to get the strut back in the wishbone, mate thinks its a good idea to hammer it in.... Cue fucked thread on top mount, ended up hack sawing it off, the strut had one or two threads spare when done up tight!

Iv seen someone top up the gearbox oil through the flywheel inspection hole at the top

You've seen that Ol? U mean u just stood back watched and enjoyed?

On my old bready i was changing the rear wheels for my wellers and also doing a bit of cleaning underneath. Got a very slight slant to my drive so put it in front of the drive on like a hard mud type ground filled with stones. It was rock solid when put on axle stands in the morning. Went to get tyres all changed over and do few things, it peed it down for a good hour. Came back to see the ground all soft and the axle stands tipped over, and the car sat on its rear beam. To say it was a ball ache getting it back up with the little jack is an understatement, i leant my mate the big jack so was trying to wind one side up at a time lol. Never again.

I know of someone who was under a transit removing the propshaft, he was laid on a board with wheels, the van had been left in gear with the handbrake off, think he had abit of a shock when it started rolling with him clinging under it

Locked my keys in the car.................in edition.

Had to take the front bumper off, hand up to the grill to pop the bonnet, popped the battery terminal off and on to allow the locking to unlock long enough to pull the handle. Had to do it a few times, but managed to get it.

My mates idea was to smash a window. But i ploughed on!

Thought an MK5 roof was a cover for the rear seats. (roof was down BTW)

There have been LOADS more over the years. Most of them tend to be mong moments where i realise straight away what was/is wrong.

Well it wasnt me and it wasnt my car but...

My brother was changing a wheel on a customers car at work. He put the wheel bolt in but only finger tight when he was interupted by a phone call and instead of finishing off he took the call and fogot that they were finger tight. Letting the car of the jack and finish off with the customer he let them on their way. About 1/2 a mile down the road the wheel came of the car and made its way into a car dealers. Luckly the damage wasnt to bad.

Learn by your mistakes, lol.

Pete.

just before i went road test my mini after the rebuild was giving everything the oce over with socket and decided id squeeze the brake connections just to be sure,

i snapeed the bloody banjo bolt for metro turbo calipers, Sickened

yes, i look like a fucking klingon.

Everything i ever do to my car.

Everyones done it at some point!

I haven't!

Got egged on by mates to see how fast my quad went backwards, did it and stacked it. No body armour or helmet. Bent handlebars and scratches and scratches on me and a very dented ego and realisation I was a cock.

a couple of days ago i put my gt trims back on so i took my wheels off, put trims on, put the wheels back on and tightened three of the wheels properly. the fouth was the back right and was left hand tight. went up to my mates and on the way back when round this tight corner lost the back end and ended up drifting round it with my foot flat to the floor. luckly the roads where empty as it was last.

Left the oil filler of my mates bird ka, whipped it off to get my hand down the back of the engine, got distracted by people offering to help us give it a bump start, que pushing, engine starting and her going off, spend the next 40 minutes trying to get hold of her or her mate, grand total was 45 missed calls and 3 texts

was doing a track day at donnington park in my old corsa redtop, got pulled because when the car was heavily banked over it was sucking a bit of oil up and throwing it out of the exhaust 9looked like a red arrow going round lol), so simply fix, drain a little oil out and jobs a good un, so i pulled into the pits and set too, like a tit i burnt my thumb on the red hot sump plug and proceeded to unload the entire contents of my engine onto the tarmac in the pits, a mad dash from my mates found 5 empty chrisp boxes which we used to try cover the mess which had by this time drawn a decent crowd which included several mashals!!!, one mashall asked what we were up to so i quickly replyed with "nowt mate but some pikeys have just put this fresh tarmac down and are looking for payment!", thankfully he had a sense of humour and helped us clean up the mess. my problem then was i now had no oil in the car so a quick trip to the on site petrol station found me £36 out of pocket as they only had 1ltr bottles at £9 each.

after topping the car up i still managed to get back on the track for the next outing so didnt miss any track time lol. total mess but absolutly epic day

I was selling my last GT breadvan, the buyer was on his way down to view the car.

Noticed a fuel smell from the back of the car, then noticed it dripped a little from the Outlet of the fuel pump. Decided to give it a little tighten, the clamp was rusty and I had to use a bit of force, then........... snap.

Outlet pipe flys of spaying fuel all over me, then wise me decides to launch the screwdriver a million miles into a field.

Had a few mates around aswell, all laughing.....nobs
