mk2 polo electric windows

Featured Replies

well fitted electric window to my drivers door today will do passenger one maybe tomoz night and took me all of 2 hours with working it out using a universal electric wondow kit off ebay that cost me £40 brand new off a mate who bought it and didnt fit it. was so easy to fit once i work it out and just 6 holes need drilling into the door and 4 into the door card. pretty stoked and works well. I have had all the wiring in the car ready for ages though put it in while i had the dash out as i knew it would make it alot easier. Now i know how to do it i will hopefully do the passenger side in about an hour if that and will have full electric wondows in my mk2 polo for £40 bargain. will try put up pics either tomoz or this weekend as i need to sort a photbucket out. and maybe do a how to guide. and may wire up to my alarms total closure bit if i can work it out correctly just to be extra pimp lol.

any ques just ask pretty pleased with it so just wanted to say

Nice one, keep the info coming!

Sounds good! Get that guide up! Ime naff when it comes electrics but i can follow guides ;)

Where abouts have you mounted the switch?

  • Author

the switch mounts into a proper unit for the switches that screws into the door card so it all looks professional its a pity your not at gti fest tomoz as i could show you mate was so simple to do and pass side took me an hour as i knew what i was doing

I'll be having a look

I miss my elec windows, need some in the breadvan haha

I've got pics on my phone to show how they mount as I'm not taking the doorcards off tomoz lol too much effort but your more than welcome to have a gander at anything mate

Sweet.

Was more interested in the switches haha

I could figure out the mounting as the coupe has genuine ones. I'd just look at that and hope its similar

  • Author

nah its not similar as these kits convert manual to electric so it has to have all the manual workings and attaches to the spline that you would usually turn to wind the wondows down you will see tomoz and il explain

Here's your pics mate

Thanks very much mate should help a lot of people and explain what to do and il get a picture of the door are with the switches in with the door closed as soon as I can so you can see what that's like too.

haha, thats a crazy setup.

Completely different to anything I've seen before.

Why the actual fuck would you want electric windows on a MK2 Polo? Have you only got one single, yet very manly, bollock left?

The only window conversion MK2 owners should be asking about is how to convert to vertical slide. Like the old diesel trains. I want one, so i can just push the windows up or down like sash windows.

FUCK slow, undignified electric comforts.

Why not and mine arent slow

I want some lambo countach style ones :ninja:

lol Mikey, nout wrong with some electrical comforts...

I Love mine :p

Central looking has its uses. A good one is a happy passenger who doesnt have to wait in the rain while you get in to open the door on that side.

Yep, remote CL is epic!

Its the one thing i miss the most i think, must fit it to the breadvan if i can be bothered.

I've given my sister numerous lifts in my car and she STILL tries to open the door while I'm reaching over to unlock it. Any central locking kits that'll fir a Mk2?

I built my kit from random shit I had lying around, cost me nothing. Video of when I was fitting it

2 door Universal kits will work. Just needs a bit of creativity in placement as the solenoids need to clear the windows, will be pulling my door cards off next weekend to re do the plastic sheeting and to start cleaning up the door cards so ill take a photo then.

But for an idea, in mikeys photo my solonoids are mounted on that central bar.

vertical diesel train windows really arent good, i have to fix them too often. haha

I also have remote central locking you can see the wires going along the bottom of the door I will get a pic of where I fitted the solenoids and the kit only cost 25 quid with remote start too but can't use that anymore due to the carbs and various cut off switches but instead it works as an immobiliser
