I'm wanting a downdraught carb though, I don't want to have to run the carb a big distance from the head (which you would have to with an Su) . Plus you don't need a big carb when using a compressor as the mass flow rate is high anyway with it not being at ambient pressure, like an n/a engine.

ye your right max, stick with a solex dis off a renault 5, I've got experience with hif 44 su's and solex's in blow through aplications, the solex is the better carb for the job

have you tried ebay and r5gtt forum, i got mine for £50, youve just got to watch the condition of them given there age, bad for pitting, knackered threads and cracked castings, and avoid getting a group A with the enlarged venturi

With them being off highly tuned motors, its possible that most are fubard beyond repair

It goes ok but the small block clutch just slips as soon as it comes on boost.. I didn't have time to swap the G40 flywheel and clutch before edition. Its coming off the road for winter soon so I will sort the engine then.

Engine plans are to rebuild the G40 bottom end, fit a solid lifter head and buy a good clutch. Its all ready got a pretty big intercooler and that will be good enuff for 200bhp +

A 5 GT turbo carb is what I've used. I think mine was £30 off a mate and it pretty much bolts straight to a solex manifold. theres normally loads on ebay?
