My new Polo 6R GTI

Featured Replies

Well, after what seems like forever, the Polo finally landed last weekend.

She's a 5dr, so the elderly parents can get in the back, but otherwise I think she is still a looker. 8-)

Spec is....

Deep black pearl

7 speed DSG

Climate control

Cruise control

Xenons with LED DRL's

Heated seats.

Convenience pack (rain sensor, auto dim rear mirror etc)

Rear parking sensors

Multi-function steering wheel.

Already fitted...

NGK BKR7EIX plugs that Revo recommend.

Mobil 1 0w40 oil

Revo stage 1 remap.

Stock run is bang on at 178.7bhp - VW quote 180ps=178.5bhp. Torque was a little down as VW quote 185lbft and the dyno read 178.3lbft. This isn't unusual as the gearbox was trying to kickdown at lower revs and so the pedal had to be kept away from the kickdown part of the throttle until the revs were well over 4.5krpm, which was passed the torque peak of the engine.

REVO stage 1 came out at 212.6bhp and 222.8lbft - true peak gains of 33.9bhp and 44.3lbft.

Stage 2 should be done before the end of the month with the additions of the Milltek TBE and ITG intake. These will also be done on the same dyno for a true comparison.

Also just ordered and to be fitted in the next 3 weeks will be a full front brake upgrade.

This will be a TAROX 6 pot brake upgrade with single piece 323mm discs, corsa pads, braided lines and upgraded brake fluid. I will also get a full weight comparison between the OEM and TAROX set-ups to see if there is any benefit on unsprung mass.

Looks sick man, can't wait for more, now get a build thread going! :D

very nice indeed!! I want it :ninja:

Lovley car.

Fucking beautiful.

Such a good looking car, especially compared to the freakish looking things other manufacturers are rolling out these days.

Cheers guys, got another pic today after a quick polish. Definitely needs a tap with the lowering stick.

Hit me slowly hit me quick!

Hit me hit me hit me

Yes, definitely a very slick car.

got to say i'm proud of VW, I mean, going from a polo 6n to a polo 6r... what an improvement!!

very nice sir.

very nice car - only issue i can see is that you have instantly invalidated your warrtanty by modding it so you might have issues with getting any upgraded software that comes as part of any servicing.

Nice colour choice though - i have only ever seen them in white, makes a change to see a nice black one!

Cheers Ross,

I have no problem with invalidating the warranty as I have been down this road before with the Edition 30.

We had to take the security bolts off the ECU to open it up to map it, so the warranty went down the pan right there and then, just 3 days after I took delivery. The rest of the mods I have planned will further accentuate the invalidation of the warranty too. The VW dealer knows that I am going to modify the car and the salesman was a keen modifier himself ( although he was ashamed that it wasn't on VW's). they also knew about my Edition 30 and had no issues with that as long as I was okay with the fact I had no warranty. I eve told them not to touch the ECU on servicing if there were any software updates as I had a remap. Even took my own oil, which was non VW specification ( Mobil 1).

On the colour side, it was SWMBO's choice and I was only too happy to agree with her. Black is the new black afterall

8-)

She has got good taste then.

Planning on getting the Miltek exhaust too? I tried a Fabia VRs estate and I found the engine note very very boring (even compared to my stock 1.2 TSi version), would assume the Miltek would solve that a bit.

Bloody love this new shape gti

yeah as somin said earlier get a damn build thread up and let me subscribe LOL

Yep, already on it's way, should have it fitted before the end of October 8-) Should wake the neighbours nicely once fitted

Thats tasty, reckon il get me one of these....in 10 years time

Now is it me or is the twincharger engine more or less limited as to tuning options compared to a turbo or supercharger only engine? Lots of poke as standard though.

  • 5 months later...

Was following you into Fast Show mate, I was in the Dragon Green 6N with the Diamond Cut D90's, the Polo looked tasty. Looked nice up and down the strip aswell buddy.

Yeah, I spotted your car on the way in and there were quite a few other Polo's there as well as some Ibizas and Fabias. Pity I couldn't stop too long.

Only managed two relatively poor 1/4 mile runs, but still have the fastest 6R Polo GTI on the 1.4tsi leader board. Managed a 13.9@102.34mph even though I had horrendous wheelspin and the DSG kicked down from 4th back to 3rd after I geared up early to kill wheelspin. 60 ft was 0.25 slower than I've previously done on normal Tarmac and I was physically jerked forward when the DSG kicked down, so was actually DECELLERATING at that point!

Must have lost over half a second, so a sub 13.4 with everything including the spare and2/3rds of a tank is possible as that was the trim I was running at the time at the Pod. 8-)

I'm sure i saw this at pod last sunday! it looked awesome on the strip

Yes, that was me. Unfortunately I only had chance to do two runs and had to leave the show early.
