Started to break (sold engine and gearbox) my mk1 golf but realised it's a decent rolling shell and would rather keep it on the road than fully strip it and weigh the shell in! So, the rolling shell will include all doors, boot, bonnet, all glass including windscreen, fuel tank and filler neck, both front wings, rear brakes with handbrake assembly, cables, and handle, exhaust, rear axle, front wishbones etc., steering rack, steering wheel, dashboard, pressed number plates, standard suspension, and steel wheels. I have the v5 document, and it is currently SORN.

A mk1/2/3 polo engine will fit straight in and cost very little (had a polo gt engine in previously). Alternatively you could fit a 1.4 16v AFH engine from a 6n, or go all the way and fit a 1.8t.

Right, just to clarify, I know I could get more breaking it down, but would rather the shell wasn't scrapped! (and this way would be a lot easier for me) Got a few people wanting to view next week but I thought I would update this just to let everyone know the situation.

For an extra £100, I will include carpet, front and rear seats, headlining with sun visors, door handles, door cards, all interior trim (window winders, ash tray etc.), front and rear lights, front and rear bumpers, fully labelled wiring loom, fuse box with all relays etc., exterior trim, gti arches, and some spare mk2 golf gti front seats. Quite a lot extra! (been offered £40 for the bumpers, and £30 for the seats).

All that is missing is the engine/gearbox (ideal if you're upgrading anyway), front brake calipers and discs (again, good for upgrade), and brake servo. These parts could be had for less than £200 (polo mk1/2/3 1.3), and a weekend of work could easily see it looking like this:

Had a lot of interest in this and a few potential viewing this week. Updated pictures will be up asap; standard suspension is going on on Monday, and engine is coming out Tuesday, then it's ready to go!
