Picked up a set of e30's the other week and they are pretty much caked in filth, but i know under the dirt and tar blobs

are actually some really tidy wheels, I've tried wonder wheels and turtle wax wheel cleaners on them with an autoglym alloy wheel

brush, and a toothbrush, and a few other brushes too... but then i ran out of wheel cleaner and still have dirty wheels

forgive me if i am missing somthing or there is a really obvious solution but just wondering wether anyone on here knows/uses

a really good wheel cleaner that cuts through all the crap on the wheels, or an alternative... saves me spending more time and money

on another wheel cleaner thats not up for the job. any help would be appreciated

they look awful on the computer... they are the worst of it, its come off everywhere else on the other wheels and the little black dots on the lips is tar...

could do with some gunk actually, white engine bay + dirt = not happy :p the brush on or spray shit?

Erm doesnt really matter tbf cus it needs to be brushed in ... just buy a big tub of the shit then put it in a bottle if need be. just slapp aloud on . scrub then spray on again and wash off :)

might get some from work later then, if it doesnt work I'm pouring the rest of it in your petrol tank :)

I would sooner spend a few minutes painting them then try and clean 20yr old dirt off.

use brick or patio cleaner. its pretty much the same stuff as wonder wheels only stronger and cheaper. used it a few times now and its realy good at removing brake dust. no ill effects on the paint either, though i wouldnt make a regular thing of using it to clean wheels as it would probably strip the paint eventually.

you could wet and dry sand the tar of with some fine sand paper, should give good results

gave them a good 'gunking' for half an hour or so and attacking them with an alloy wheel brush and it has removed a tiny bit,

but i think I'm gonna go down the refurb route and get them done properly... so my next question, could anyone recommend any refurb places

some undiluted bilberry wheel cleaner should get that off. I've used it to get dirt off wheels worse than that.

i tried bilberry, had a valet use some acid stuff and ended up having to wet n dry the wheels to get the shite off

never had a problem with it. Billberry through a foaming sprayer leave on for a bit, slight mist of water over the top, vikan wheel brush, spray again with billbery and then use flowing water and the wheel brush together.

Try Sugar Soap. I had some grimey second hand wheels that came up really well. It's non corrosive so no risk.

Just buy a bottle of undiluted from somewhere for cheap, mix a strong dilution with hot water in a spare spray bottle or tub, apply to wheel and agitate, leave for a couple of minutes, reapply, scrub a bit harder, rinse off and should do the job.

You'd be surprised what it can do.

john just reminded me , i've got some patio clean and brick morter acid ... Ill make a spray bottle and mix a tinnnyyyyy bit of brick morter acid in for you tonight ollie . just remind me so then i can use it too :) ...

what i find cleans alloys really nice is if you spray a load of cillitbang on leave it for about 3mins then get a flower sprayer add some fairy bug blitz and instant shine and warm water and wash the cillitbang off then wash off with water then they look brand new again
