6k saloon! New updates page 3!

Featured Replies

Evening all, just picked up my 6k saloon :)

Got it for £900 with 6 months tax and MOT.

It's the 1.6 75bhp model. It has 50k on the clock, and full service history including cambelt change.

Been service every year and i'm planning on full servicing it next week to keep ontop of things.

I'm not too sure modding wise, as its all pretty much standard. I dont know whether to keep it looking standard, or the usual coilovers, wheels etc.

Anyway, here are some pictures:

(None of my own yet, these are the ones off the advert)

Cheers man, it is pretty clean yeah! Covered in rain dust though, which be cleaned very shortly haha

That's very clean. My first 6k was that colour. Looks like you got quite a tidy one. What spec is it? L, CL or GL?

Thank you. On the part of the logbook i kept, it says "1.6 L" so i assume the L. I enjoy driving it though :)

Ahh right. It is an L then. That would be the same sort of spec as an L hatch or my 6K2 E. They only have four speakers as far as I can tell. I'm replacing my rear ones with some 6x9s eventually.

what happend to the 6n :(

Whys it a 6k not a 6n? Isnt it the same basic car?

NO! completely different car. looks very similar but nothing 6n will fit 6k, except the interior, brakes, susp....

body and bay are cordoba/ibiza mk2. some bits are golf mk3... proper mash up.

d.

As above, chassis is different (6K is the code VW themselves gave it)

Think is a combination of Mk 3 Golf from the firewall forwards, Ibiza back to the rear axle etc.

If you parked one next to a 6n you`d see they are a bit wider as well so 6N bumpers etc wont fit as they are too small. AFAIK, its also a bit wider than the 6N2, about the same width as a 9N if memory serves.

There looks like there is speakers in the parcel shelf (on the sides) but they dont work! I have 6x9s in my other polo, but dont really want to ruin the parcel shelf with this one. May look into getting a small sub!

Still got it, its outside my drive haha!

Suspension from a 6n fits the 6k? I got told it doesnt? But thanks for the information :)

Yeah i definitely notice its bigger than the 6n, as it takes some getting used too (driving down small roads and giving way etc).

So i take it parts are hard to find?

what parts lol... depends what you want, either buy cordoba/ibiza or learn german and surf ebay.de

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JOM-Coilover-Sus...=item4840edea56

To Fit

VW Polo 1995-1999 Mk4 (6N) NOT 6N2 1999 on

VW Polo 1995-1999 Classic (6KV)

standard front susp is same part number as 6n but i think rear spring is different

http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=209069

Would i go for the "Seat Ibiza/Cordoba 6k - £165" ? And all four would fit?

Cheers!

Couldnt be anymore greatful, thanks alot for that! I'll get onto ordering on payday :)

You have these, and they fit your 6k fine?

yup, this was my invoicing email from last year >>> 741007 JOM Blueline Coilovers - VW Polo Mk 4 : 1 : £162.47

fitted fine. and as far as i know they are still properly attached to the car lol

15k miles and not a problem.

fronts have about 10mm of thread on them (still to go down), but i value my sump too much. rear has about 30-40mm. when i fitted them i put them all to bout 10mm from lowest thread setting and the rear arches swallowed the wheels past the top of the rim, if that makes sense (as in the alloy metal was up in the arch).

parts are such an arse for these cars.

have to do so much looking around and checking.

bought plenty of bits, and then had to mod them or sell them on as they dont fit.

Valver interior, lows, G60 steels, seat ibiza GTI front splitter (thats a must). Done and done.

Love the colour.

Splitter can be had from seat for about £25 brand new!!

standard splitter:

Ibiza GTI splitter:

IMAG0401.jpg

10% meaner :-)

Looks like a good base 8-)

That Ibiza GTi splitter looks sooooooooooooooooo sick..
