Insurance quote.

Featured Replies

Right so yesterday i was bored and decided to get an insurance quote on go compare (that guy in the ad needs to die!) Circumstances are no no claims and a crash a year ago and a crash a year before that, both my own fault (yes i know I'm a penis) also haven't been on the road since my other cars insurance ran out one or two months later due to a lack of money. My renewal quote last year was about £2300! On a 2f polo spi.

Now i'm nearing my car being m.o.t worthy and looking for a job again, fun. So thought a quote would be handy anyhow, go on there put in all the details, no no claims, declare both crashes and a 3 year restricted licence. Put the mother on as she's been driving forever, third party fire and theft and all. The site loads the quotes and comes up with £883 for the year on a pay monthly basis. Did the quote 3 or 4 times just to check it was right, mean last year i was told £2300 renewal so i'd say £883 is pretty good for me!

But incase it interests anyone admiral and elephant (same company esentially) seem to be doing really cheap insurance deals at the mo. No other company gave a quote less than £1800 either. I myself am pretty happy with that. Although one question, does anyone know if the company can actually go back on their quote after the site has issued it?

Cheers for reading

Insurance companies love new customers as it boosts there books each finacial year and looks good for them, and then they F**k you over when it comes to renewal! Anyway as long as you can print the quote you should be ok.

Also these go compare sites and confused.com arn't always the cheapest and make sure you check the quote as sometimes they raise the excess in order to lower the premium, and you also have to add other options like motor legal protection etc.

Well yeah that was my suspicion that they'd bump it up at renewal time, although i was with admiral when they had to pay out last year so you wouldn't think they'd want me back after destroying a mercedes :? Exactly though, print it and and keep the proof. It only came with legal cover and i put £250 excess and on the quote page elephant had put it down to £100 excess haha dunno what's going on there.

They fuck over new customers too, its just on renewals they skip the lube.

From my limited and claimless experience, Admiral weren't too bad, and they seem to drop their premiums by a lot when you add extra drivers with good records. They quoted me the best price for my first year, and a pretty decent renewal quote too. Had some issues with them regarding mods and clueless indian callcentres, but they seem to be ok if you're not planning to crash into anything this year :) especially for the price you've been quoted

the quote is final, but it has an expiery time, not sure how long.... a week, a month?

Thing is they bump costs up here and there, like Monthly payment charge ect.

I've been with admiral/elephant a few times, there an ok company, call centers good and quick.

There call cantre is in cardiff.

Yeah they're not bad, also if you go to elephant and get a quote they tend to be cheaper i'm finding (online atleast) and then you can phone admiral and they'll give you a cheaper quote to beat it, might be worth a try for you. Even better on compare the market i got a quote of £750 :-D good ol' meerkat.

Ah that's nice to know it's final, With elephant it lasts till 4th december so i think it's about a month and a half wich isn't bad. These quotes have been pay monthly and i put suspension, wider wheels and fog lights on the mods section.

Another thing is self employed it's £750 employed it's a £1000 and unemployed it's £1300 give or take, Disgusting that unemployed pay the most!

disgusting? Drivings a priviledge, not a right.

Although one question, does anyone know if the company can actually go back on their quote after the site has issued it?

Insurance companies do not have a legal obligation to guarantee a price for a new customer, they can retract their quotes. This however is very, very rare, most companies give you 60 days with a "guaranteed price". The only time I have seen a price change, is when an advisor has made an error, or the customer gives incorrect information. If there is something wrong on a quote, the advisor would have to rate the quote again, as it is impossible to know what impact the error had on the quote.

So as long as all the information is correct, you should have no problems at all
