That's fine, but get your MOT pre-booked and ask the garage to write it down for you so you can show it plod if you get pulled.

See if your garage will pick it up for you, save you money and hassle.

If you've got another car insured, just swap the insurance over for the day onto the car getting mot'd. Then as said pre-book the mot, and when it's all done and passed switch the insurance back over. Cost me £2 in adjustment premiums to do it that way.
