Thinking about smoking my front headlights (but only lightly!)

I see that a cheaper version of lamin-x on the net but is really dark, so I'm thinking of spray tint then I can choose how light/dark I want it.

Anyone smoked headlights before got any tips to help??

Like is it lens off job and spray inside or shall I just spray the outside like the rears?

have you got gti xenons?

if so i wouldn't spray them you can get different shades of lamin-x

Yeh I have got GTi xenon lights,

Only reason I thought of spray rather than lamin-x is 1 of the lads on the local forum did his and it looked sick! But he said it was a nightmare when was dark has to drive with full beam on to see anythin lol

I've looked on that website and also looked at fly eye kit which looks spot on to me and don't even cost that much for big sheet so I'll try it n see what it's like

fly eyes is real good mate used it my self on my old polo. real easy to work with and you get a free application kit :)

can even screw it up remove and re use lol, cant go wrong.

i went for the darkest shade and tbh i couldn't see anything at night, didnt help that i had rubbish bulbs.

i just used tights.. lol

I've spoke to the people at fly eye and they've done a photo generator thing to show what it'll look like with different shades of grey and black,

I'll post them up when can get on laptop.

It's worth a try before I spend money on fly eye kit cos I've still got paint from doing the rears so can easily try 1 or 2 coats, still got the tint remover aswell if goes tits up lol.

No harm trying well I didn't us tint spray lol I use helfords spary tins

What shade did you have? They do black 1 and black 2, looking at the pics they sent black 1 is darker

Fly eyes was fine on my HID fogs and grill lamps but on my HID headlamps i could see bugger all and they caused the beam to scatter.

The lens on one of my fogs is being held together by it at the moment after a stone strike.

If the beam scatters then it's surely going to be terrible, I don't do much night driving but still.. when I do I wanna be able to see! Lol

With 4300k bulbs it was ok (still an unacceptable amount of scatter in my view), but 3000k bulbs just didnt work with it at all and there wasnt even a beam more of an explosion of light.

Lamin-x might be expensive but i dont think it would cause the same issue as its a see-thru tint film and not a solid vinyl with pin wholes in it.

Put it this way, i had this on, went round some country lanes with no lamposts (meaning no light apart from my headlights), within 5 minutes i was up on a country bank over the curb because I didnt see the corner, at this stage I turned around went and found a lampost parked under it and and ripped the crap off, then stuck it too the Lampost, still has it stuck to it to the day :)

Its literally solid black 3m di-nock vinyl (doesn't only come in carbon fibre effect) with holes in it.

At leasr laminX is a tinted trancluscent film.
